So when doing a local sale….

I think it's wise not to do deals at your house. I don't need a random person knowing there's a house full of high end music gear.

Our local police will let you do deals in their lobby, and I've made use of that before.

In places where it is legal to do so I will carry as well.

I get it, but what do you do when the buyer wants to try out an amp before they buy it? I’m pretty sure the police department doesn’t want you hauling a Marshall half stack into their lobby.

True, at that point do your best and screen the person by phone.

Exactly the point. If someone comes creeping; there is typically a really bad ending. And it doesn’t end for the survivor. It’s litigation for years and mental torment forever.
A side note since I’m a gun guy and own a gun store as well; when people come to me for concealed carry, what weapon, defense etc…. My first question is “are you willing to take a life away”? I make them think about it for a while before we get into the mix. Things will get very up close and personal and you have no time to think. If you question at the threshold of your bedroom door; you are dead. 😒.
Sorry this thread has taken a turn but bad shit happens and it’s worth thinking about prior to a potential event.
Man this thread is about to go from which currency to charge to which compact to conceal lmao.
You’re a good man 🙏🏽 when I’m asked for advice on caliber/set up for home defense my first question is “How much drywall work you lookin to do?” 🤨 All jokes aside I did have a friend who was selling his dirt bike on Craigslist back in the day, & ended up getting shot in the face. He luckily survived… I attached a photo of the court document for a quick read of the story.. Always in the back of my mind.. Police station lobby is probably the best bet if one is really worried. Last thing you want on the flipside is a paranoid dude with a gun.. lol Then there’s another camp which has went their whole life wheeling and dealing with no issues. You can never be too safe is sound advice at the end of the day.

Hahaha could you imagine 😂 I can hear Bob Marley & The Wailers now. 🤌🏽 When someone actually wants to try the amp you typically do that in your garage.. Just is what it is. Most the time people take it as is because they know what they’re after.

In that court doc; you see the younger kid could not come to terms with shooting the your friend. Just pulled the “gun into the air” He failed at the threshold. Most people cannot come to those terms of shooting or killing someone. The guy who shot your buddy in the face is a freak who wakes up thinking “how can I fuck people today for the better of me”.

It's warm enough you can have them demo it in your garage. They don't need to step foot inside your house.

Loco deal cash or Acapulco Gold

I usually just give gear to a few friends. It's easier than selling.

I sold a guitar a few weeks ago and he wanted to meet at police station (first time I've ever done that) and he needed to try the guitar before buying ....he brought a practice amp and plugged into his car and played it in the parking lot. He cranked it up and I was like WTF

That reminds me of the old Volkswagen gimmick that I thought was cool as shit when I was a teenager 😂

Who was the member here that sold an amp about 5 years ago to a guy and weeks later he had to return it because it was “talking” to him.

Any time I've sold an amp I tell the buyer to play it as long as he wants until he is satisfied that there are no functionality issues. Because once they load it up in their car, the 30 second 30 day warranty becomes effective........No returns........
