vlad, you're gonna dig the thing..you played mine and loved it....even though the nut on mine was fucked 8 ways to sunday....lol
That's my only concern. I can deal with a cosmetic flaw, but if the guitar goes out of tune like yours did... oy... LOL! :D

ratter,

This one is a special for you. Side by side in the same spot with the same camera. As you can see Orville does what one would call a replica. Can you see the difference in shape? I certainly hope so.

You're right, truly a night and day difference. Astonishing really. They are millime...err....WORLDS apart.

What is that one on the left anyway....a telecaster? Is it a mandolin of some kind?
The one the left is a lute I think.

Unless that Orville is different than the other Orvilles I know than that's nowhere near a replica.

Most Orvilles I've seen are like this:

Two things right off the bat:

A) no binding over frets(neither does the Edwards)

B) rosewood fretboard which will make it sound VERY different than a true LP custom..that's a very large part of their tone and the Edwards at least construction wise would have the closer tone on paper...although I've admittedly never played one. But rosewood vs ebony is a large difference in tone.

That's very true, however out of all the copies I've seen it's as close as it gets by shape, feel and sound. Edwards LPs sound way off, they have ESP-ized sound, feel & finish. At the end of the day they all sound like les pauls with different flavours, but I would personally never advice edwards as a replacement for a gibson. Now an Orville could work.

I would never choose an Orville LP Custom to work as replacement for an true LP Custom....rosewood vs ebony is a large difference in tone. It would sound like a standard most likely.

Shape and feel don't have nearly as much influence in my experience.

It actually sounds somewhere in the middle of standard & custom, so your assumtion is correct.
