let me chime in with a slightly different angle....

with vlad playing the thing it'll sound every inch as good as a gibson les paul that costs three grand more...

Just like your $500 Epi which you can melt faces with! LOL! :D
That thing sound badass... once you fixed my fucked up wiring! LOL! :D

yeah..at first you had it wired to start up my car and turn on the microwave

Shit I'm never soldering on the floor like that again. I couldn't see inside the electronics cavity!

"hmmm...maybe if I saw the headstock off?"

LOL! :D
That had me cracking up for like months!

I know =D

Well it was funny! LOL! :D

"To boost or not to boost!" or "OD1 + Boost vs. OD2"... I figured that would aggravate you enough to make the thread funny!

Would love to see clips posted with the following being played one at a time,

Gibson LP
Tokai
Edwards
PRS
Heritage
Hamer
Epiphone
ESP
Collins
Rondo
Ibanez
LTD

Would love to see" nothing sounds like a Gibson" to the test. Of course the guys that have stated that will have to put some scratch up to prove this fact :D

I don't subscribe to that camp at all. I'm a believer in the shape of the guitar, the body wood, scale, bridge, tilt back neck design, etc. I think the Singlecut designs like this are the best sounding guitars for rock and metal. But, in no way shape or form does it have to say Gibson on the headstock.

And what does it mean to sound like a Gibson anyway? Some Gibsons sound like shit and lot's of them sound great. All the new standards are chambered, that's not a bad thing though it doesn't seem to affect the tone as much as chambered Superstrats IMHO. I don't think the new LP's have much on a the SC245's. I'm skeptical on the Edwards, i need to play one first. I played Paiges Tokai and it felt like a cheap toy.

I think the most important question that needs to be asked her is are the shipping materials for the edwards the same quality as gibson?

let us know if the box is a spot on replica or if it's night and day, vlad

My Edwards has a cheap feel to it, IMO. If you want to call it that. I think it's because of the lighter body wood - it has a light dry feel to it. And also the finish on mine is a rough/relic'ed lacquer that kinda feels halfway done, sort of like the Gibson Faded series and some of the ESP/LTD LP styles. Those two aspects don't leave the best impression. But if I think about it, the best LP I ever played was very light. And the Edwards sounds and feels better than my R7 did and is a ton of fun to play, so I can put up with the flaws. Especially for the price.

If price was no object, I'd go cherry pick an R8 or R9. But that isn't a knock on the Edwards when you consider the price difference.

Well according to gibson THE tone is their VOS CS stuff with long tenon so I guess according to them the rest is not the gibson sound.

During lunch I tried some Vintage or something brand for $550, one piece body, maple cap, full bunding and it weighed a ton and played great. Nothing toy about it.

Night and day! Who's who?

I'm sure the Gibson has better tone.

Matt had one a while back. It was one of those Lacquer Taste (tee hee) LP's. Now this particular guitar wouldn't stay in tune for whatever reason. That major issue aside, the actual tone was GREAAT!! But I do know what you're saying that it feels sorta cheap. The bridge wasn't as heavy as feeling as the LP's that I've played, but the tone was there. It was massive sounding... out of tune as fuck but sounded great!

They look the same. I know which is which because I know those pictures. I was on the Edwards site the other day reading the specs on the guitar. Aside from that, it's really just the knobs. If you rotate the picture and put them side by side they're identical.
