So who here has completely switched to EB Cobalts?

Finally broke a string on my frank that had Cobalts on there for a good six months, at least. I didn't have another set handy so I restrung with standard Ernie ball super slinkys. They sound and feel completely lifeless compared to the worn out Cobalts that were on there. Anyone have the same experience??

used to hate ernie ball slinky strings as you mentioned always found them dull and lifeless. I currently use ernie ball colbalts which I find for me personally the most present sting for guitar I have ever used. I find it's worth the extra cash.

I've been using the 10-46 cobalt since they came out. I played the regular green pack 10-46 slinkys for years before the cobalts came out. I really like the cobalts. The tone seems to have a little more midrange and tighter low end, probably because they seem slightly brighter overall with my setup. I also haven't had strings break like i did with regular slinkys.

Put some on and they have lasted a week before rusting. Not sure whether it is because of the aircon or whether it is the tone finger ease I sprayed on them but they still sound good just feel as though they have rusted alot compared to my usual Daddarios.

I've been using them since they came out on all of my Ibbys. Love the strings! They always sound great and last long!

They have a much better feel then the Elixirs that I used to use.

I saw these for the first time at GC yesterday. I'll have to try them next time. Been using slinky for years.

So these strings only have cobalt in the winding on the wound strings.

Seems like a recipe for uneven harmonic/ string response if the cobalt really does increase magnetism harmonics and output.

I love the sound and feel but after using them for one year I realized they were eating my frets. Went back to Daddario or GHS, whatever is handy.

I hated them. They feel dead right out of the package. I switched to D'Addario BT's, and I love them. Much better than any EB strings, and I was a Slinky user for ages.

I prefer super slinkys over the cobalts. maybe because it is all I have played for many years??

Are they much different than Elixirs? After using EB Classic Rock N Roll pure nickel for ages I put Elixers on all my guitars. Not sure about them yet.

I am always interested in new string technology, but as many problems I've had with breaking EB strings (including the Not Even Slinkys) I am not wasting any money on them. If D'Addario comes out with something similar I will give them a try.

I used to break EBs ALL. THE. TIME. Then I switched to DR and had good luck. Then I quit playing shitty guitars and went back to EB. :gethim:

Really? Did you log any data to prove this. Not being critical at all......I just don't want this to happen on my guitars. I've had a lot more work this year and have played a lot more but have not noticed any issues with wear. I found that I was getting some odd fret gouges when I was using the titanium coated EB strings before these.

Still....have to keep an eye on these things.
