Never hear any talk about this amp... how does it stack up against the Hot Rod, Avenger, SLO, ect?

Ive got one for more than a year now. The Decatone has its own thing going on, so do the others. It fits my taste perfect.
I also have a Herbert and its great to have two different amps. The deca has a really nice clean but can break up, i dont really use the crunch but the overdrive is where its at for me. I dont believe you could get trouble cutting in a band with this amp.

When talking soldano people always talk about the slo and compare soldanos other amps to the slo, but in all fairness mike did a great job on all of them, you dont always have to compare, just look what works for you. The small things like cables, picks, strings other gear and youre playing style as wel make a amp sound a surtan way.

The amp is beast, give it a try!

I used to have the #2 prototype that had Deyoung Trannies in it. I played that amp for years and loved it. I lived on the crunch channel. A lot of guys tend to overlook the Decatone, but it is a solid amp. Not an SLO, not a Hot Rod or Avenger. It's got it's own thing going on. Kinda like a jack of all trades and master of none.

sounds like I should go play one when I go back to the states... I wish I had the luxury to do so right now!

So how many amps do you have now that you've never had the chance to play?

haha

oh man!!! First time Ive been asked that. Let me think, 2 channel triple rectifier, blueface VH4, a pair of peavey 5150's, a framus cobra, a vox ac30 hwh, a mesa tremoverb, an m4 with 4 new modules, a vht 2150 blueface... and a shit ton of pedals, effects, and other odds and ends that Im forgetting, not to mention a few more amps Im sure. Oh yeah, a Friedman Brown eye... see, thats being forgetful!!!

Oh yeah... guitars, I have 2 gibson explorers, 3 ibanez v blades, and a limited edition esp horizon... needless to say, my wife hates me everytime she makes a trip to the post office for me and has to carry all this stuff upstairs 3 flights of steps to the music room!

LOL...maybe chill out on the Decatone until you get home...you may already own "the" amp for you and don't even know it :poke:

I'd say the Decatone won't hang with the Friedman...I've owned both.
The Decatone is more SLOish on the gain channel, clean was average, crunch was between a JCM800 and a SLO.
The HBE on the Friedman will smoke the Decatone IMO.
