I know its been beaten to death but which sounds better of the two? Which has the better clean of the two? I am selling a mesa mark IIC+ which sounds great but I love trying different stuff and I may pick up either of the two mentioned.

they are very similar amps but price wise you cant beat the evh. I have tried both several times and I dont think the tonal difference warrants the price difference. plus the evh has 3 channels. Get the EVH stealth, you wont be dissapointed!!!

Id go with the original.... The SLO and not the EVH copy. But then I don't like anything with EVH on it :scared:

Slo is on my short list can't wait.....$ but I have too! Maybe X-Mass?

I'd buy a used 5150 iii 50 watt for $700 and hang on to your mark II c+. That's seems like a damn near impossible amp to replace. If I had one I wouldn't sell it to fund either of the amps your interested in. Just my opinion...

I was thinking this when I read it. It's your choice, but it's a lot harder to replace a IIC+ where the other amps seem to be more common. The SLO is an awesome amp and costs a lot, but you can still get one new.

I friggin LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my SLO. It's ended my amp search. I'm not sure by your post if you're referring to the Peavey 5150 or the new 5153's. Both are cool amps for sure, but the SLO's build quality and purity of tone are in a whole other league. What other amp company offers a lifetime transferable warranty? That being said, I dunno if I'd let go of the MKIIC+. Those are rare and sought after. But if you just don't dig it, that's another thing.

I do dig the Mesa and it was a fun ride but Im ready. I got a Carol Ann triptik and I really dig it with 3 amazing channels. Im wanting a Tucana 3 now but they are $3300 so looking maybe for something a little cheaper. I also had a SLO a while back but didnt bond with it but maybe didnt play with it enough tubes speaker and such. I tried a 5150 III on tour as a backline for a week and it was great.

I love my EVH. It's my favorite amp I've tried, but I'd hang on to the Mark. Those things are pretty rare and legendary for a reason. It would be REAL difficult to replace later, and I think you would eventually regret it. I'd just save up and get the EVH and hang onto the Mark as well. 100w EVH's are cheap and easy to find used.

THis all the way.

The MK II C+'s keep climbing in value and probably will continue to do so.
You'll regret it if you get rid of it

I've had a 5150 (peavey), 6505+, mesa mark 4, mark 5 and now the 100w EVH 5150III.

For me the EVH is the best bang for the buck, I'm running it paired with a mesa 4X12 traditional cab with a seven string and it's the tone I was always searching for. :)

Looking at your options - why are you considering a SLO, in the previous comment you mentioned you did not gel with it.

I'd keep the 2C+, just like many said, it's a rare legendardy piece of amp and unless you are in a need for cash, I'd keep it and get an EVH to get a simple 3 channel amp with tons of nice tones :)

I have owned all three, still have the MKIIC.

The SLO is magical a 4 or 5 on the master volume. The iconic tone. It was just not nealy the same down lower. I only sold it because of the crushing plume it took to sound amazing.

The 5150 is pretty awesome for the $

The MKIIC is just to total package. Freakin awesome clean channel. It isn't famous for that but the edge of breakup blues and crunched rock is great. Mine is simulclass, EQ, loop, verb model.

Pretty close to a perfect amp.

I would encourage you too look a a Rhodes Gemini. Lots of tones, programmable cuts and boosts for tone shaping. Great leans and epic high gain. A couple pedals and the Rhodes covers everything but my old Dr Z.

Good luck on the tone quest. It's only lots of money...

I have a SLO and a C+. Play the C+ with eq off and a little reverb most of the time. It cleans up extremely well and has tone for days. I'll play the SLO once every couple of months where it's 3-5 times a week with the C+. Keep it and save up for something else!

Which version of the Mark IIC+ do you own? This may be a deciding factor.

A 60 watt graphic export. Sounds killer but its on ebay and I like where the biddings going so no turning back.

If we were talking about a Simulclass-EQ-Reverb Mark IIC+, this post would not exist. I have a new 5153 100S and a loaded Mark IIC+. It is most certainly "apples and oranges". No winners or losers, just the flavor of the week. I would add the EVH to your collection, and hold on to the MESA. Just my 2 cents.
