Soldano slo or modded marshall

I have a SLO and a Friedman Marsha, the SLO doesn't get much use. No point putting a price on an amp, for me it's all about how the amp sounds, responds and feels under your fingers. A few thousand here or there is no big deal in the big picture. You mostly get what you pay for.

I prefer the fast attack and unforgiveness of the modded marshall (splawn nitro user here)

I have a 5150 too for my SLO type sounds and it sounds almost the same
(less dynamics and less open but you can dial it pretty close )

i have an slo sitting atop a 6534+

i assure you that while you can dial them up to sound somewhat similiar, they are very different amps.

the slo is way puchier and more articulate.
I have the 5150 II atop mine (2001 SLO). I hear the same - punchier and revealing.
I'd say that the 5150 w the 6l6's is even closer than the 6534.
But as Fuzzy notes, they can be dialed in similarly.

I'll always love a good Marshall, I still own five of 'em... After buying an SLO three years ago, and playing 200+ gigs in those three years, I haven't used anything else live since. It really works well for me. YMMV of course!

...and I'm definitely past that "honeymoon" stage everyone talks about.
