Soldano SM-100R

There as rare as hen's teeth. I don't need two...or so I keep telling myself.

I looked for about 1-2 years and finally found one in France. After purchase price. shipping, customs duty and a new Deyoung tranny for 120v spec it cost me an arm and a leg.
 
All this "SKY HIGH" used Soldano prices
are gonna make me PUKE!!

I've been looking to Buy a used SLO for
a few months now and I won't even consider
it at the current, Inflated used prices.

Anyway, I suppose I'll just Can my Rage
until the Foolishness ends and I can buy
a SLO in the range of $2300-$2600.

You are not getting a rackmount for that...you can get the regular SLO head for 2500....but the rack mounted SLOr and the power amp, I have never seen one go for under 3500 in the last year or 2....especially one that is in really good condition. There just arent very many around...its more that they are very RARE....if you are using it to gig, then get a head and be done with it, but if you are a collector and want a piece of history, and a rack...well you are gonna pay for it cuz I would bet there are less than a 100 of them and they come up on the used market MAYBE once or twice a year and have 30 - 50 people willing to part with big bucks...I am willing to bet you will see this one disappear magically off of ebay as if someone made a deal outside of the ebay constraints...I have been offered north of 4k for mine on numerous occasions and it is still here next to me as I could never replace it....if that says anything...(plus I have a deal with the guy I bought it from who gets first crack at it if I ever sell....and I know he would scoop it up immediately cuz he was a dumbass to sell it in the first place...LOLOL)

Yeah, that's pretty high, but it's priced for a collector, not a player. I mean really $500K for a '59 LP, that's not gping to be on stage :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL:
 
I emailed him - he says he does't care if it doesn't sell at that price - he has interest and if no one bites it goes back in storage. He was nice about it, and it's his to sell at whatever he wants.

It sure would look good with my X88...

Oh yeah, I get it.....the whole collectable and rare thing.
The Soldano Rack shit is Highly sought after. The price
point of 4K and up, just Floors Me!!
Does the Soldano SM-100R do more justice for a Pre-Amp
better than a VHT Power amp? I would probably be safe
in guessing......Not so much, but again the whole "Rare, Collectable"
Thing, I do get it.
I'm more into the SLO Head for Gigging purposes and I have never
seen the used prices this High.

No, most, including Mike S. from what I've heard, think the VHT 2100s or 2150s are better.

But the Sm does have the SLO trannies, so for say an X88 or X99 it will be as close as you can get to a SLO tone.
 
VHT power amp sounds great with the Soldano preamps. I should not have sold my Classic to SharkDiver.
 
The Soldano SM-100R has been relisted on eBay at a lower price just in time for Christmas.
 
If it was $3,200 out the door it would probably already be heading my way, lol
