Guys, it is my pleasure to announce I have purchased Meathead S/N #1. Pic below.

Review : I'm not sure if Meathead is the right name for it as it was crunchier than I thought. High fat content, tons of grease, nevermind the calories

Washed it down with some Mullard EL34s & WD40.

Can't get more metal than this

I have been thinkig about ditching the idea of Mike modding one of my Marshalls and getting a Natas. Not sure which way to go so I need to talk to Mike again. Something about those modded Marshall clips, though...they just sound so killer.

That's pretty much what Im doing at this point. One of the ideas I had was for Mike to mod another one of my amps but after thinking about it, Im definitely getting a NATAS instead because it's pretty much going to do what the mod would and more....Much more!.
Im still having the Cali mod done and hopefully a custom job provided Mike has the time but that's where Im calling it a day with the mods. The NATAS will more then likely be my Fortin production amp!! Gotta represent yo!!

Yeah, that is pretty much what I have been thinking. I am gonna give Mike a shout soon.

My pathetic photoshop skills makes the pic funnier than it is :hys:

Is it OK to say I have a little moist spot in my undies?

Thanks for the run down on the channels Ralph.

The MEATHEAD has killed all other GAS. I have been day dreaming about this head about a hour a day the last week.

stephen

I have the same feeling, since I started talking to Mike, I have been daydreaming of the Meathead for months! and then I got to play the fucker and I just need to have it, at this point I would sell my whole rig to get it, it's that good, it's fuckin scary good!

I don't think I've played an amp that was such a tone machine, honestly every channle for me is useable, other amps have had a good clean and a weak lead or a killer gain tone, but the clean was useless, but this amp is just a Mind fuck and it's has a shit ton of knobs but it's not overwhelming, which is amazing!

so I gotta have it!

C

The Meathead looks like a Roadking KILLER for sure.

Whoa!! I never thought I'd see an amp with more knobs than a VH4 (24)....29 by my count, unless there are more on the back. Crazy! Congrats dude, sounds like it sounds as big as it looks :)

Who needs photoshop when you have paint? :D

Looks... massive!

Can you you give us the low down on the tone of each channel? What's it sound like??

If it sounds as massive as it looks then it's gotta be a monster!!
It is MASSIVE sounding IMHO.

Im going by memory but

Channel 1 is a clean but it is voiced with more of a scooped sound. It has that deep rich bass and glassy top end sort of sound and it sound killer.

Channel 2 is clean but adds more midrange. Its not a clone of channel one in that it has its own voice even if you cut the mids. very cool!

Channel 3 is voiced just like the Bones. It starts getting into gainland but just a bit of gain not firebreathing gain lol.

Channel 4 is also voiced like the Bones and pretty much picks up where channel 3 left off. This can get pretty heavy.

Channel 5 is the Meatheads own voicing and gets into saturated gainland. You can crank the gain on 10 and it wont mush out.

Channels 6 is another Gain channel voiced specifically for the Meathead. it not an extention of 5 in that its voiced totally different.

This is just a brief overlook and I'll let Mike chime in. All I know is that every channel kills and you can dial in just about anything that you can think of plus each channel has a 3 way toggle switch that can either add or subtract gain and 3 way toggle switch for brightness etc etc.

it's a killer sounding amp with a very clever design and no shortcuts were used on any of the channels and even the transformers were specifically designed for the amp. You can crank the volume on 10 and the amp will still remain tight. Killer!!
That is kool!!! I was under the impression that the shared channels was voiced identical with just the possibility to have different gain amd master settings.

I believe these are the other threads for those who are interested.

This is of course the web site. The Bones manual and some other good links are here.

From everyone I have asked Mike Fortin's work speaks for itself. As one person put it "His work is impeccable!!!" It would seem he has earned the respect of many. Myself I am very glad to see it coming in fold. ...... and wish him luck with where he is heading.

wow! sounds like a very cool amp Ralph. I do like the tone of the Bones.

It looks like I've finally found head for myself.
Kidney for sale, anyone :D

I think you are right!! I'll have to ask Mike!

I edited tmy original review because TT was right!!. The channels are similar but with the ability to add/subtract stuff!!

Mike has a great ear and has done enough research on what works and doesn't work in high gain amps that I can't imagine the Meathead not living up to the amount of knobs it has.

Holy knobs batman!!!!!!!    Looks like alot of FUN and tones of TONE

That is so bad-ass. I would love to have one of those!! How much are they/do they cost?? When are they available?
