It was another guy named SearchForTone. He posted some Gambale songs claiming they were his. He claimed he was from LI and said he had a bunch of VHT gear. He did post a clip and described a few of the settings and it didn't sound like SteveVHT. Not sure who that imposter was.

Then there was that other kid who was posting videos of someone else. He was some kid from Oklahoma. He kept showing videos of some guy with a mirror Ibanez. Whoever that guy was in the video was prettty good. He also posted a clip of some Symphoney X stuff claiming it was his. When he was busted he dropped off all the forums overnight.

Along time ago on HCAF someone posted clips of a fairly well known jazz/fusion type player and claimed it was him playing. He got called on it and there was some good flame threads that came out of it. I wish I could remember more details about it but it was quite awhile ago.

EDIT: It was the Guthrie Govan incident mentioned above.


Apparently the pressure to get cred on the internet will cause some people to think there's no line that can't be crossed...

In hindsight it was fucking priceless. That guy was handing down advise on how to play like Guthrie, and it was such a fucking fireball when that bubble burst. What a train wreck...

Technically, the moment Zorran put the songs put it to "tape" it was copyright protected, because there is a digital time stamp. I had to study Copyright laws for two years in college.
