SFW - best of luck with all of this man.

Guys, @SFW is an amazing guitarist. Not a wanna be like a lot of us.

Dude, I'm not a dog guy but I can feel your pain (remotely).

Hang in there and you will learn your way around this.

As others said, OUCH!! You got this....good luck in your recovery.

Damn, that is definitely NSFW. That sucks man. Sorry you had to go through that, but like you said at least it wasn't your daughter or wife. Look on the bright side. Now you get to join me in the 3/4 thumb club.

You can't see the scar so much anymore, but I lost about half the bone before my knuckle when it was pretty much disintegrated in a car wreck. It's on my fretting hand.

Hope it heals up soon so you can get on to getting a grip on gripping picks, and back to playing. Mine definitely changed my playing. I lost some of my stretch on my fretting hand, and now that I'm in my 50s I tend to keep to 24.75" scale guitars because there's some stuff that's either uncomfortable or that I'm just flat out not able to play on a 25.5" scale.

Hey, not trying to get into your business with your dogs either, but are the dogs neutered?

Raising two high energy unneutered littermates together, especially two very strong and capable dogs like GSD's, is one hell of a task obedience trained or not. Have you ever tried to tackle something like that before?

If you are planning on breeding then maybe keep your obvious stud intact, but neuter the other?

SFW- best wishes for a speedy recovery, I'm sure you'll be able to play again!
I've always enjoyed your videos, because like you, I often try out different pickups.
I hope to see them again soon. Big hugs!🌈

I've owned GSDs all my life. This is the first time I have had two males at the same time. They are both fixed. The vet told us that it probably would not stop the aggression toward one another. We got them after a storm here a couple of years ago. Up until this incident, they have only been aggressive with one another. And to be honest, they weren't attacking me when this happened. I did something I knew better than to do. I put my hand between them.

We are currently considering separating the two. I just have to find the right home for the dog. Both boys are very sweet toward people and other animals. It's just one another they argue with. After talking with the vet, I understand that this is because they are littler mates and trying to establish a dominance order. I just want to make sure he gets a good home. The funny thing is we plan to keep the one that actually got my finger. lol!

damn dude, looks like my pinky i smashed when i was a kid. hope you recover soon!

Shit. Sorry to hear that. Interestingly enough my father-in-law has an injury that looks almost exactly as yours. It's been quite a while but he can now use it pretty well. Speedy recovery!
P.S.: Tony Iommi can be a great inspiration!

Just saw this video, and thought of OPs post. Dude is like Radar on Mash, and he does this:

man that is gnarly, sorry that happened. best wishes for a speedy recovery

Take care, man. That looks like a freaking nasty freak accident. As others have suggested, for the sake of your family, don't let them clash like that again. I don't have any solution short of separating them, which is equally cruel if they have both been around with you for a while. But family first, that is a horrific injury.
