I added that, but I still don't think it makes any difference. It's not like it's a non Caparison neck or body. And as far as setup goes, whoever wins the guitar is just going to change that anyways. I know I do on every guitar I get.

Honestly, in the buyer's eyes, I think it makes a HUGE difference, especially for a guitar of its price. I would want the peace of mind of knowing that all work done on the guitar was done by a professional, not just some random guy. Again, I'm not saying you did sub-par work, but I would be a little uneasy if I were the buyer.

Wouldn't matter one bit to me. Guys take the necks off of guitars all the time. Some people actually prefer to have guitars shipped to them that way also.

I sent this message to Mark via eBay, he had no clue it was me sending it... I asked about the guitar being a true custom shop guitar or if it was a parts guitar he had put together and how the warranty would apply.

Here is his response.

"Dear capnfingers,

As the auction says it's a Snow Cloud Horus body with a maple neck from a rare Japan only Horus model. I installed the neck onto the body but everything else was done by Caparison. The warranty is not valid, the Caparison warranties are only valid if you buy one of the guitars new from the dealer in your own country. Caparison doesn't have a custom shop by the way, all of their guitars are made by the same few guys. Doesn't matter if it's a basic Horus model or a custom guitar for Mattias Eklundh."

With answers to questions like this, I really don't think he is trying to mislead anyone... Just my 2 cents worth.

Everything I said in that answer is in the auction except the warranty info which I have never included in any of my Caparison auctions before. It's common sense that a used guitar doesn't have a warranty.

Are you worried about the buyer paying with Paypal. He could reverse the charges saying your item description wasn't accurate. If you don't think a neck swap is a big deal, just say you swapped necks yourself. According to you everyone does it all the time, nobody will care that it's not the original neck. This is another good reason to only buy neck thru/set neck guitars.

really diggin' that tone you have happening with it. After
listening more, I really do prefer the Custom pickup in your

I am sitting here trying to figure out why all my tracks for rhythm guitar sound compressed... I am adding NO compression at all and with the gain level I like, they sound compressed... If I back off the gain and add more upper mids and a bit more treble, they sound thinner... I am having trouble finding a happy medium here! Any suggestions?

I am sitting here trying to figure out why all my tracks for rhythm guitar sound compressed... I am adding NO compression at all and with the gain level I like, they sound compressed... If I back off the gain and add more upper mids and a bit more treble, they sound thinner... I am having trouble finding a happy medium here! Any suggestions?

Are you double tracking the guitars? If you are, actually, even if you're not, drop the amount of perceived gain in the room. Close micing tends to accentuate the gain amount anyway and the more gain you add to the amp the more compressed it becomes.

Record in 24 bit and keep your level at about -8db. If you try to "use all the bits" on the way in, particularly if you're using the quality preamps that come on most interfaces, you're hitting the preamp too hard and for some reason I believe the signal gets compressed and grainy. I've tested this and sah5150 also had the same hunch when I mentioned it to him and he validated it. He's even using a Great River preamp, so it's not just the preamp. Leave some open headroom.
