Speaker advice

I have been offered a trade of 2 x evh g12m 20 watt speakers for my Marshall G12 vintage speakers. I am thinking of trying them in x pattern with my other 2 g12 vintages. What are your thoughts?

I find the g12 vintage kinda sounds like a hybrid of vintage 30 and a greenback. Not sure if putting in x pattern together would be worthwhile?

Make sure those EVH's come with a spec sheet and warranty. You don't want to go blowing transistors. But if you have the right picking technique and bias your tubes hot you can get a tremolo effect out of them.

It's all good. We're just messing around. Just know, that if you do this trade your 4x12 will now be a 100w cab vs. what it is now (roughly 240w)

Combining v30s with greenbacks is a good way to hear almost entirely V30 while pretending you're hearing both. The efficiency difference is too large to get anything close to a 50/50 blend.

I MUCH prefer V30s (whether Marshall, Mesa, or UK).

Don't trade the marshall V30s, they are way harder to find and get than the EVHs which you can literally get anywhere you want whenever you want

If you miss the marshall vintages you will never be able to find them again

If he gets a pasture to bless those EVH speakers he will avoid blowing transistors and then he will get that tremolo effect.

You can always find or buy EVH speakers

the marshall v30s are not only not produced but heavily desired by a large portion of the gear community

It's one of those trades that seems like it would make sense at first glance but is in fact very inequal
