I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on a new 2x12 to pair with my modded Marshall. My current cab is a V30 and a creamback 75 so I want to do something different. Today I picked it up from my tech and played through an old 1960a cab and I thought it sounded great. What speakers would you guys recommend for an aggressive sounding modded Marshall?

My favorite with any Marshall, stock or modded, are G12 65s. The Marshall labeled one from 78/79 are my preference, they are a bit brighter than the early 80s 65s. But the new Heritage 65s are spot on to the early 80s 65s and sound killer. Second goes to early 70s GBs, NOT pre Rola but the RIC cones that came right before the Blackbacks.

I'd recommend either scumback M75-LD 65 watt since you like the g12-65 or if on a budget go Weber Legacy 30 oz. Magnet (Closer to 35 oz in reality) 65 watt 75hz cone and large dust cap.

My favorites so far for that have been the Jensen Electric Lightning’s and Fane F90’s. Not sure how they are on their own but have the Fane’s crossed with V30’s in my Ubercab and Jensen’s crossed with V30’s in my Kerry Wright 4x12 and both have been a perfect combo for my taste

I actually had the V30’s in the Kerry Wright crossed with the cream back 75’s before like you and much prefer it now with the Jensen Electric Lightning’s. The H75’s were a bit tighter and more defined which I liked, but were too bright and hard sounding with the V30’s yet was also too smooth/lacking growl and complexity. The Jensen’s have this great throaty lower mid growl, much more warmth and complexity and sounds heavier/more evil and it’s cleans are light years better than when I had the H75’s in there. It’s a perfect match with V30’s imo and may also be killer on it’s own too

UK made G12T-75's. Not the China made! Those are not the same speaker as the UK original.

I’m sold on the Celestion G12H30 Anniversary speakers.
