Right now, I'm playing through 2 Thieles with MC90's, and it sounds killer. But I've heard V30's really sound great with these amps. Of course, the EVs probably do as well, but hard to come by. I'm curious what doing a V30 and MC90 would yield. As much as the MC90's do for low end, I'd still like to tighten it up a bit, and maybe add a little more grit. I run an EQ in the loop, as well as boost it. I pretty much live on Mark IV mode, extreme isnt as focused, IMO.

I use mine with the mini Recto slant cab (1x12), which has a V30. Sounds great! Punchy and full!
I also have a 2x12 cab, that I use vertically, with one Celestion G12-K85 on top (which I'm told is close to the MC90 soundwise) and a well broken-in V30 on the bottom. Also a superb combo. The G12-K85 slightly tames the V30's sizzle, yet empowers/broadens the low-end and in no way that speaker is mushy or muddy (which some G12-T75's can be).

You're the first person that I've heard claim a T75 can be muddy sounding. I've certainly never experienced it...if anything, I find them to be too bright and harsh with certain rigs.
What combination of gear are you running to make that speaker sound "mushy or muddy"?

Mushy might not be the best term, but muddy...sure. Scooped and the lows aren't always tight enough.
I'm talking about recent Marshall 1960A cabs.

Mind you, I have a vintage pair of T75's from '86 (came with a 1966A 2x12 cab) and those sound awesome. But overall, I find the K85 a much improved speaker. Less scooped mids too and less strident highend.

The K85 is the same as a K100, AFAIK?? Like a 75 with a larger magnet.

I run mine thru a Mesa widebody 1x12 with an eminence governor. Sounds great. I also tried a V30 and EV12L and thought they were a little to bright on the top end.
Heres a clip of the cab with a Mark IV. I have it dialed up with quite a bit of mids.

So I've heard as well.
Never played an actual K100 though. Oh, and if you go the used-route for locating K85's, there's a difference in sound between the ribbed cones and smooth cones versions. The smooth cones sound smoother, but also less punchy/defined. More of a 'jazzy' speaker. My preference (especially for heavier styles) are the ribbed ones.

Thanks, No it's not a Thiele its the 3/4 back widebody.

Sounds like a Mesa V30 would be a good choice. Just keep in mind that there are a number of Vintage 30 variants.
