Stumbled across this band while looking for something else on youtube.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5R660Ujb ... ure=relmfu

So I listened to a few songs and I am not sure If I like this or not but what does intrigue me is that they have somehow fused all these 80's sounds that I know sound familiar to me into one package. In this song I hear:

1. A song that sounds like it would have been written by a chick
2. An "I was made for loving you vibe" alla KISS and a hint of AHA or something along those lines but mostly KISS
3. Some Van Halen ish accents on the guitar
4. Some Steve Stevens Billy Idol riffin
5. Your standard melodic solo alla scandinavian guitar players (which makes sense seeing as they are from Finland I think)
6. A singer who dances like he is David Lee Roth but has hair like Vince Neil

In this song, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qy6NpF2V ... ure=relmfu I hear Steve Vai on guitar, Autograph, Def Leppard, and maybe something like ABBA thrown in there. WTF.

Then this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDdD5MnU ... ure=relmfu what is that like Thao Cruz or other dance music in a rock/pop context? Sounds like club music with vitto bratta in the background during the verse and Steve Vai during the solo and.

This is either really horrible and cheesy or they have found something unique by being a complete mix of all the synth 80's stuff, to the pop to the hair metal. I'm going to guess that most of you will confirm that this is horrible but hey, they got me to listen to 5 songs so mission accomplished.

At least the guitar player can play .. :scared: I think these guys might be like Lays chips, I couldn't just eat one. I had to check out the rest.

Ugh. All of these "new" 80's metal bands are trying too hard and are way off the mark. The 80's was a lifestyle and had a certain feel.

To me, this is the kind of crap that started to fill the airwaves killing the '80s more than Nirvana ever did.

It doesn't have the angst of The Plimsouls, the rawness of early Crue, or even the song writing of Journey.

Just bubble gum. But Tiffany would be proud.

committed suicide? Damn, crappy deal ..hope it wasn't due to the popcorn music they were playing..the song wasn't half bad at all.

I also agree that these bands are trying too hard and are not raw enough. It all sounds too polished and too studied. I kind of get that Simple Plan formulaic type of feel from these guys though I can see what they were going for. I find it catchy but still too studied.

Dynasty was pretty tight.. good vocals and I like the production behind the song. Love big huge spacious drums rather than the cliky in your face modern approach.

One band we can't forget is Airbourne, I think those guys kick ass.

oh and by the way i love reckless love haha. Hot is such a catchy song. its really a modern 80's style song and wouldnt really compare it to anything from the 80's glam scene

Well....The swedish 80's wave is pretty good. Crashdiet are rockin.

That's what I mean, it is almost more of a pop song disguised in leather and crunchy guitar. The solo is again very Steve Vai-ish to me with the effects and the feel.Maybe more Duran Duran ish... either way. these bands are having fun, good for them.

It all depends what youre looking for really. This is clearly 80's influenced AOR ... My bet is that if they were around at the height of the 80's they would have done well..

I think that these guys do a much better job on 80's music, this came out a year or so ago and if they were putting this out back then, I think that they would have been huge

In the end, I think thats their goal, theyre not looking to be virtuoso's, theyre just looking to capture the fun element of the 80's which IMO, was a huge part of the genre.

Its not my thing but Im a sucker for melody and catchy bits and it doesnt offend me in the least

I have mixed feelings about this.... mostly it is very fun to take the trip back to that time. The songs were always catchy and the guitar work was of a high caliber. then another part of me wishes sleeping dogs would just. . . woe, I think I just wrote some 80's hair metal lyrics. . .

these 80's copy bands are horrible IMO, no substance, just imitation
