I love mine. I play it through a diagonal 2x12, semi-open back at the top with a V30/Creamback 65 combo. Just trying something new, I lowered the gain to about 10 o'clock and that was so awesome!
I played with the gain that low on Gear 1 and 2 using both OD1/2 for different songs, and then using my Keeley SD-1 to boost it for more modern territory.
Loop volume was at about 2pm, so amp was not full boar, but I always set teh Master Volume around 9:30 and use the Loop volume to attenuate. No doubt it roars without the loop volume, but still sounds so great with it on.
So we covered Petty, Zeppelin, RHCP, Black Crowes, GNR, Floyd, Foo, Kiss, Alice in Chains in our jam the other night. With the gain on 10:00 and using the Gears, ODs, and my SD-1, I was able to nail some awesome, album quality tones for the songs we jammed.
Just goes to show that high gain is great, but low gain with some boosts and be all you need for certain styles.
Before, I was running the gain at about 12 - 2 o'clock, running the Gears and ODs and I sometimes found that I lost some articulation at higher volumes. ...Maybe I'm just getting older!!
