I got the chance to get a EU version with KT88s but the seller lives in another country so I can't play to check if I like it. I hear it's the single channel version of Nitro is that right? Does it chug?

hot rodded Marshall-esque .... I believe it's just the dirty channel of a Nitro .... super tight .... the bass can get a little boomy ... but I haven't had a problem adjusting the EQ to fit whatever guitar I'm using .
Thx man!

I had a 50watt for a long time..Loved the mode switch . It added mids ala quikrod
I have the chance to buy either the 100 watts QR EL34 or that one KT88 but I've never played either. Which one is more metal?

I’d go supercomp 100 and load it with 6550s. It’s a badass amp. It’s the single channel of the nitro. He doesn’t offer it anymore. You should be able to have it changed to 120V US easily. Don’t forget to have them size the fuses for US as well.

I could be wrong but I think the straight Competition is the QR ...... and the Super Comp is the Nitro .....

If the competition is the single Channel QR making then the super comp the single channel Nitro, what is the super sport?

yeah ....... I've gotten a bit confused looking up history on the Splawn Models .
I think it's a two channel quickrod running on 6V6's .... again ... not sure .

The Super Sport was originally born as a 6V6 combo. It then morphed into EL34 options and head options. It is 2 channel, but shares the EQ, which I believe is the only Splawn that does that (Edit, as does the very rare Nitro SS).

See my link above.

When I talked to scott yrs ago when he made the SC available he told me the SC is a single ch nitro. Mode switch will add more mids like a QR almost. I bought it and gigged with it for 10 yrs..Great amp.

Anybody ever try to squeeze a baritone
guitar through a Splawn?
The obese jock?
