I have a 2012 QR and its killer amp. I have a Splawn straight cab with Splawn Small Blocks that is the best cabinet I've ever owned. I don't have the amp in front of me but my treble/bass/mids are all set between 4-6 and vary. I stick with 2nd gear mostly, but sometimes go to 1st on gigs. Gain is usually around 5.5 to 6.5, and I have a Tube Screamer that I kick on once in a while. As far as using the effects loop as a volume, I didn't see that much of a difference in the tone and I'm happy without the loop.
The clean channel is good but not very flexible. No matter where I set any of the knobs, it sounds pretty much the same. Does anyone else feel that way?

I have a Splawn cab with the stock man-o-war and govner in an x pattern, a couple marshall and mesa cabs and an old fender cab with texas heats. I think it sounds great through all my cabs. They are all slightly different but it's nothing I can't deal with for a gig. I know people say they don't like v30's but I would just say it prefers broken in v30s. You really can't go wrong. My boost settings are gain off, tone between noon and 1 and volume maxed out. Just adds that little sustain and oomph for solos.

I switched from smallblocks to v30s in my Splawn 2x12 and love the change. I have a 2012 Nitro. I boost it with a Mesa Flux Drive and it smokes. I was using a Maxon Ts9 but preferred the Mesa.

This is such a cool thread. I will need to try out some of these settings...been a little while since I focused on my QR's.
My new Friedman's are my focus at the moment. However, I've had a QR since 2006 and just DIG these amps.

Very interested in the "newest" version of the QR with all the options...1/2 power, old/new, B+, etc
