Hi guys, finishing up my new album, I want to try to explore tunings a little bit.
In the past couple of years I've always played in Standard D. So far so Good.
I've also have 3 or 4 tracks in Drop C. The songs are cool, I really like them, but I'm starting to think about the tuning.
First of all because I tried to tune a 4 string bass down to Drop C, with the obvious adjustments, and it sounds like a mess (50-110 Gauge).
I tried to like it, but I cannot stand it.
A lot of the bands I like have different tunings, C#Standard, Drop C, Drop Gnrfafol and so on.
But I also think that they have great techs to support this. Plus Baritone Guitars to compensate etc.
Don't get me wrong, I love lower tunings, but I came to the conclusion that at least my guitars are not suited for this. And I don't want to buy 7 strings or active pickups.
I post something so you can help me sorting out.
These are pre-production takes, with amp sims, rough mix etc. etc.
PRS Singlecut with 11-52 Dean Markley Blue Steel. Tom Anderson H3+ in the bridge.
So which one you prefer?
The standard one or the tuned down version? The song was recorded with the lower tuning and pitched up in Logic. I know it's not the best approach but...

Thanks!!
