I Have a Sabine rack tuner but it is with my live rig. I need to get a tuner for the house. want to go with a stomp...
thinking either the good old boss TU-2/3 or the TC polytune.
IYO which is the better of the two?

Sonic Research Turbo Tuner and never look back.

I forgot about the turbo, what's so special about it?

Super accurate strobe and super fast tracking.

Set up your intonation with a good strobe tuner and trust me, you'll hear a difference

I just bought one of the new Peterson strobe stomp tuners. It's big and easy to see. Has all sorts of features.

Any consideration to clip on tuners? I got rid of my pitch black about 3 years ago in favor of the Snark. Shits 10 bucks off amazon.

Can you use a polytune for intonation?

I wouldn't, but I guess you could.

I use an accurate needle tuner for intonating guitars. I find that it produces much better results.

I do use the full-sized Polytune live, and it more than adequately gets the job done. I recommend it for that application.

That's my favorite as well simply from an extra feature and stage visibility standpoint.

The Turbo Tuner does track track faster though...something that I'll keep in mind the next time I need to tune up while playing 32nd notes. ;)

I like the polytune - had a peterson strobostomp, when they are accurate enough for setting intonation, then IMHO they are too sensitive for live use. My strobostomp was so sensitive putting my hand on a tuning key would make it read sharp. The Polytune is accurate enough to work well and just a nice pedal.

Great topic, was thinking of this recently as well. I see TU-2's go for 50$ used most days of the week, how much more is the polytune giving you? strum all the notes and tune is great but what about for dropped tuning or tuned half a step down? I hear it will not display flat notes and just display everything as the note below but sharp? That doesn't seem like much but would be annoying. Does the TU-2 do this as well??

good points made

SR Turbo Tuner, best Ive ever had. Shows any tuning, super fast, super accurate. Reasonable price point too for as good as it is.

+1 on the Turbo Tuner

Like some will say you can get a cheaper tuner, but the Turbo is really fast, super accurate, and can be used to set intonation. Also, compared to the Polytune, the display is twice as good on the Turbo (super easy to read at all light levels). I hated the "big pixel" aspect of the Polytune.
