Strong hints that Van Halen 1 68 lead was just a slave amp and not the main amp.

You can't get this amount of bass with a super lead :

until you add it in at the console while tracking, or a pultec while mixing, or any of the other endless amounts of ways to manipulate a tone in a studio, none of which seems like you are taking into consideration at all in your tone search.

the tone in the video has nothing to do with the studio sound plus it seems that the studio setup was way different than the live one. His tone live seems to be a downgrade compared to the studio one in my opinion.

listen to the isolated guitar tracks above and listen to bloom in rwtd : no super lead, no jcm amp got that bloom even with tubes removed it is caracteristic of vintage jtm amps. It has been confirmed multiple times that 2 guitar amps were used at the same time in van halen 1 so you can't get the full tone only with half of the amps.

You guys fall for this troll every time :hys:
where am i trolling ?

Or maybe it’s just the FACT that EVH was the motherfucking GOAT?!

And everything he touched came out sounding like gold and dollar bills!!!! What you’re hearing is the sound of GREATNESS.

The Mesa Boogie mark II came out(released) in 1978 Van Halen 1 was recorded in 1977 and released in 1978 so Eddie couldn’t have used a mesa Boogie mark II

lol. Meanwhile there are probably at least 100 amps you can buy right now that will get that sound with the right effects and good hands. WTF

I know that if we can get to the bottom of this once and for all, our dicks will grow three inches longer and our guitar skills will be unparalleled.

I must know what Eddie was doing in the 70's!

He was playing a Mesa Mark II.

You marshall guys have been chasing that tone on the wrong platform for decades.
I heard it was a IIC++. Mike Bendinelli drove his Delorean really fast from 1984 to 1978 to get it to Eddie.
