Stupid accident

I'm really serious now. I'm not a tube guru , I only can plug head into cab and set the bias and change the tubes - my skills end here.

I jammed with friends , we decided to take a break so I wanted to leave my guitar on stand. It was behind my amp(Peavey 6534).
And by accident I disconnected column cable from the head ... But with lightning speed I connected it again. For maybe 2-3 seconds my amp was without connected cab.
I checked , played the amp and it looks that everything is ok.

I know that this is silly question but my amp will be ok ?

Damage usually happens when the speaker cable gets unplugged while playing. If your amp was on standby, or your guitar volume was rolled off, or basically you didn't have sound coming out of the amp then from what I understand you should be OK.

Thanks

My guitar was unplugged when this happened only guitar cable was plugged. And my amp was turned ON.
Amp works fine , I have not noticed any unusual things but I will wait for other comments ;)

Don't worry about it! A few seconds wont hurt the amp. If you didn't realize the cable was unplugged, and you cranked the master volume yelling "where's the sound??" - that might hurt the tranny/amp.

My amp tech checked out one of my RT2/50 amp without it hooked up to anything and powered it on. He said as long as it is idle it won't hurt it for him to check it out.

Amp volume was barely cranked ... it was abot 0.7/10

Let me explain again:
I walked with my guitar (unplugged) to behind mp amp where the guitar stand was. And my leg hooked the column cable and disconnected the cab from amp. I immediately realized what I've done and I plugged the cable instantly. As I said , my amp was about 2-3 secs without cab plugged. And the amp was turned ON , only the guitar cable was hooked in (not the guitar).

I'm in my home and I turned ON amp and everything seems to be ok. If amp work as usual , that mean nothing happened ?

The only real danger is if the speaker cable is disconnected, standby off and you attempting to play thru the amp. This can cause the output transformer's winding to arc and subsequently damage the OT. It doesn't sounds like you have anything to worry about...

Nope , only guitar cable was plugged in.
It seems that my Peavey is tough beast

If done it a handful of times over the years with various amps. Never had an issue.

Yup.

I've plugged into foot switch jacks, line outs, etc...no sound...turned up volume...try again...then the "oh shit" moment....

You're fine.

Me too. Recently forgot to plug in the speaker when I was biasing a peavey classic 30. Volumes were off, nothing was plugged in. thankfully the amp is fine.

I've done that too..I would have 2-3 heads on top of one cab, and then turn on one of the amps and realize "shit! it's not plugged in to the cab!" and turn it off immediately. Never had an issue.

I put my amp on standby and swap the speaker cable between cabs all the time. Never have an issue.

OK guys , thaank you very much for so much feedback ;)
I guess we should be much more careful ...

Yes we should

I have done worse and been ok with amps. I have had amps back in the day with the wrong ohm setting, messed around for minutes asking myself wtf is going on.

Guitar has been unplugged many times, my old band members decided to use an amp when I wasn't there and stole my cab cable. Fired it up not knowing the cab was not connected like WTF. 5 minutes after thinking my new pups weren't wired right I realized.

Just a few examples. The only time I have ever been able to actually manage blowing up a tube amp was when I tried to slave the preamp to a power amp with 2 different heads.

That one did not end so well :D

You should be fine.
