Metropoulos amps are done

Haven't heard a peep about Splawn (or from them) in 10+ years. Bogner... they don't even have a website. And they probably have 3-5 employees. But they've been on the scene for a long time and they offer more than just clones of vintage Marshalls. They also have distribution and retail support. They're doing fine. BAD also builds some of their products.

Last time I spoke to Scott Splawn, he was basically down to a one-man shop for amps and cabs. Not sure who is building his guitars....

But that conversation was a couple of years ago...

I still love my Quickrod and Streetrod alongside my bay area thrash mod.

Rockitt Retro is still building Plexi amps.
Germino as well. Think Mojo Tone too.

IMO George should have stuck with building Plexi amps and kits.
He went off and started building his own amps, digitally sampling tone controls and responses, seems like a huge waste of time and expense. Should’ve just stuck with what he started with.
In fact, for the whole history of Metropolis amps, he’s always been complaining about one thing or another. Just build amps and stop crying.

If I could buy the same 68 Plexi kit I did years ago, I would buy another.

I cannot believe this thread went political. It is a real shame.
I am not much of a plexi guy, but that Loop is a game changer.

It is a shame. It started on post #12. No surprise I suppose.

Scott is still building amps and guitars. I see a new one on his Facebook page every other week or so. He just posted a Sparkle Red SS1 Super Strat. He has at least one employee (a new face to me) to help him build his amps, cabs, and guitars. He makes his own footswitches, guitar holders and even a rack case. He also has a 'Splawn' stage he rents out. A new Competition 50 (which is what I'd buy if I were buying new) is only $1,800. Not sure how you can make a profit at that price :dunno:

So, you were part of the budget planning? If not STFU.

You are just a low level grunt that has no idea what was planned for how much and by whom.

It's a very extensive process where every customer wants the best product within the budget.

If you ever hired a contractor to build you a home or building you would understand but knowing the broke low life you are, you never will.
So basically if you aren't an owner or part of his executive management team your opinion doesn't count for shit because you're just another poor worker busting their ass for depressed wages. Shut up and listen to your betters. Sounds just like the president whose balls he loves to fondle.

So, if you are the guy pushing the wheel barrow of dirt on a job site, you probably understand the technicals of budget planning for commercial construction?

Is that what you are saying?

You have no real idea how or why he conducted his own business. You were not in the conversation.

Who says that renewable energy is worthy? That position at the moment, is a waste of money. All the windmills and solar farms in the world will never be enough energy to meet the needs of a growing economy. In my small home I use 536 kwh per month. I would need a whole solar farm just for my house.
It's so unworthy that across the globe 95% of new energy generating capacity came from renewable energy installations. It's so unworthy that thanks to new solar and wind installations Austrailians get three hours of free energy each and every day. That's 1/8 of their yearly energy expenses erased, and directly attributable to renewable climate-friendly energy generation.

This shows why the right wing believes renewable energy is unworthy. It's about less billable hours, not less power.

It also is because once we are off the oil teat oil will no longer be a justifiable reason for going to war, which will decimate the defense industry. We have not been in a war that was not directly attributable to our leaders' desire to control oil reserves since WWII. No more oil demand = reduced defense spending.

You must be in academia. No, common sense at all. Is your house or apartment solar or wind powered? If not, why?

Because every republican president in my lifetime has sucked the big oil dick, and hamstrung our country out of being the leader in the fastest growing and most important advances in sustainable energy generation across the globe.

Also, I laid out hard facts that equal real world positive impact for consumers. Then you start talking about academia like it's an insult and saying it lacks common sense. It's easy to see that you can't have a real honest conversation, and like your golden idol can only attack people when they refute your bullshit claims.

What do you need them for? Go out and buy what you need to convert your home or business to wind or solar.

Duh.

Here you go, state of the art home generators. 12 Kwh. How many Kwh does your home use everyday?

I should charge for educating people like you.

What about all the renters in our nation. What about all the coal and oil companies existing on subsidization from our republican government who would rather line the pockets of oil company execs than see real world savings and subsidies granted to end consumers. Like republican states that decided people who invested themselves in renewable energy generation would not be paid for energy passed back into the grid the same way other energy providers are paid by their regional power suppliers.

How many kwh do you use in a month?

Since you are an energy specialist, because you read the Guardian and have no math skills.

My home uses about 600 kwh a month, and I pay about .13 per kwh.

I bet this sounds like chinese to you although you read The Gaurdian.

I would need 2 of the units, $17,000. One to run while the other charges if there is enough sun.

Then have to replace them when they wear out, probably just throw them in a river.

Or I could just pay $78 a month for my coal/gas electric bill.

I almost wonder with Splawn if he doesn’t really “need” it to be profitable. He seems like he has had his shit together for the last 20 years basically.

I would be happy to own another Splawn again. Great sounding amps, seems to be a likeable guy, makes cool guitars. All good.
