Hi Everyone,
I just got my Herbert today, as most of you know it's a great day and I'm giddy with love for it's awesomeness! :D :inlove:
My question I'd like to throw out is I'm sure a few of you out there are using a G system with a herbert- I know when I connected it to my Boogie road king it was a lot of struggle to get everything working the way I was satisfied with (and I never really did get the sounds I expected). If anyone on here would like to share any helpful connection, programming, tweaking info I'd much appreciate the time savings. Additionally I'd like to use my Road king as a second stereo head. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Currently my plan is to run the Diezel preamp on the insert on the g system then run the loop 1 out to the input of the road king, then both outputs to both amps parallel returns. I'm pretty set on channel switching on both, Has anyone crossed this bridge yet?

P.S. Peter Diezel you build one H@LL of an amp!!!!!!! :rawk:

15 guitars 5 Les pauls some EMG most gibson burst buckers 5's pups, Music man silloutte, Epiphone dot, American strat, yamaha apx, epiphone AJ, a supermodded fender mini with dave gilmore EMG's, and a few clunkers and works in progress (or lack thereof)
Diezel Herbert
Boogie road king
Boogie Mark 3
Line 6 Bogner combo
Boogie Halfback 4x12
Carvin V30 celestion 4x12 (cabs to be upgraded next!!!!)
G system- with 2 ernie ball expressions
stacks of stomps

I don't have a G-System but from reading on this forum, some people have had trouble getting it to work the way they desire. Noise and other problems.
I went for a TC Nova System for the effects loop of my Diezels and have not had a single problem with it in any way.
Simpler, and does all I need.

Good luck with your wiring situation.

G-System sucks. Too much latency. I sold it.

i have had nothing but the best results with mine, my buddy peter thorn has used his for years before building his new rig and never had issues either. I def wouldnt say that the g system sucks in my experience.

spedaontherocks- I've had mixed results with mine, but when I had it dialed in the best it was real good- Mine crashed on an update and I had to send it back to TC after wards I struggled a lot with it.- Perhaps the way you connected it played into it's poor results. I tried mine a few different ways with vastly different outcomes. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though. I have seen a few guys who could have any rig they wanted (and get paid for using) still choose G systems for their live setups, and speak highly of them.

G-system is great about those things:
-interface and setup flexibility,
-fx quality
-latency (mine has zero latency)

But his point of force, the multy purposal fx (multifx, pedalboard, looper all in one) is also his weakness:
-4 cable method hum and added hiss.
-little tone coloration
-and of course now in 2010 the 1400€ price..a GM2 450€ has almost the same interface and algorithms.

So, I mean the 4 cable methode. With this methode you will have latency two times!!!
Analog -> digital transfer when you plug you guitar in the g-system.
Digital -> Analog -> Digital by using the amp insert.

Record the dry guitar on a track and the miked signal together. Then you'll see the latency.

If you mainly play with full distortion, you'll probably won't feel the difference. But check out clean or crunch tones and you may see (or feel) that with the g-system you'll lose the directness. (god, my english)

So, there is for everybody the right stuff to buy.
My opinion: the g-system (with the 4 cable methode) sucks.

Chris

I have mine for sale now, because it does sth in front of my amp to the tone I dont like...
It is nothing about latency, just the tone itself is not as plug directly into the amp.

If anybody is interested, just shoot me a message - this thing is like new ;)

Sorry Chris I was thinking about preset change delay/latency.
I've never recorderd using a G-system so I don't now that latency.
The G-system project is based upon the 4 cables method..but this method seems to have many..many noise problems.
I've fight one year aganist hum/hiss..then I've sold mine.
Anyway..for live use is a great and flexible machine all in one.

Just a follow up other G system users might find real helpful. On the TC G system forum I downloaded a really well written PDF by a user, with several users adding input called understanding your G system. Written by an Electrical engineer who has 2 g systems one for live and the other for recording. He seems to have gone to great lengths to really eeek the best performance out of the unit, and explains it well for both applications. The article is called understanding and configuring your G system.
Many of the issues I had on the first go around with mine on the road king I now understand my mistakes and shortcomings on.

I didn't think it colored my tone but I couldn't get rid of the noise so I took mine back. I wanted it to work so bad but I just couldn't get it to.
