Clean and crunch went down... much lower than before.
If it's a tube thing which tube/s would be responsible?

Whichever is the PI--just had this happen. Replace & you'll have yer volume back.

Pl? Sorry, don't know what you mean.. I looked for a label or sign by the tubes position to see if you meant that, but none..

the phase inverter aka PI is usually the furthest tube from the input jack

I don't think it's the PI, since it's only happening on 2 of the 4 channels. It's also a preamp, so it won't have a PI. You're going to have to look at your poweramp to check the PI tube. Are you sure it's only happening on those 2 channels?

I would start swapping in a known good preamp tube in the positions after V1 input tube(closest to input jack). If it was the input tube, or phase inverter, it would be happening on all channels most likely.

I agree most likely is just a preamp tube, work your way through all of the tubes one by one until you find the bad tube or tubes swap it out with a new one or a known good one and your good to go.

I tried changing all the tubes one by one to find the responsible, but no result (only have 1 new tube). I'll try changing them all when the new ones arrive, but getting worried....

The problem is, it's an Engl. Not trying to make a joke; I owned two Savages and they were both messed up, but were fixed up real nice when my tech got his hands on them.

Engl amps are notorious for blowing up. It sucks that they actually sound pretty cool.

I'd check those tube sockets as well as the tubes themselves; cold solder joints are all over those amps.

I've had my ENGL for years, it was my #1 gigging amp for a good while and it got it's fair share of abuse. Never let me down once. Maybe I'm the only one.

No they are not, I owned at least 1 Engl for the past 10-11 years and gigged a Savage 120 and Savage SE (owned them at the same time) hard for 6-7 years and I NEVER had a problem with them except for tube issues.

Well, I changed all the tubes for new ones and the problem didn't change a bit. Levels still much lower in clean and crunch.. Now really worried

I dont think the PI would be causing this problem since the volume is only messed up in 2 channels. The PI would affect all of the channels. If you want to narrow it down, use the effects loop on the preamp to drive another preamp and poweramp and see if the problem still occurs. That will tell you if the problem is before or after the effects loop and help you narrow it down.
