Sudden volume loss, then gain, then drop, then gain. VHT

I have an issue with my VHT Pitbull 100CL. Sometimes when playing, I'll experience a volume loss, then the volume will go back to normal, then it will lose volume then gain it. The problem happens again and again. Its almost like the power is surging through the amp where I have lots of volume and little volume. I only get it with the VHT and none of my other amps. I've run the amp without pedals and get the same results. What's going on?

I've had this happen as tubes were going; try the simple solution first.

Try some contact cleaner then check the tubes.

My first jcm 800 I bought used and I think it had the original tubes in it. And it had those same symptoms. it would be fine but then volume drop and then would come back. Turn it off wait a few minutes and turn it back on and it would work again for a little while and then do it again. Worn out tubes!

Maybe your power tubes sockets need to be cleaned or the tubes are going bad. You might want to check or change them before they short out and cause damage to your amp....
