SYNERGY SYN-20IR: Overview and 26 Module Playthrough

I’ve seen this this guy, he’s got a great channel. Check out his other videos if you haven’t already.

His video convinced me to push the "Buy" button. Been havin.g a blast with the 20IR and I only have one module.

I was thinking about grabbing a SYN2 and the T/DLX and BMAN modules. I like running fuzz pedals, so it feels almost dumb some days for me to have multiple tube heads. Then I can also grab other modules if I want to expand my horizons.

The Synergy takes pedals so great and the amp is so quiet! My Orange Dual Baby sounds like a chainsaw compared to the Synergy because it is so quiet. I use a noise gate but probably don't need one.

Feel like I might try it if they ever offer a 50watt head with the functions of the 20. Or maybe just get a used Syn 2 and a mono power amp like the KSR.
From experience with other smaller wattages going into my PS2, it could get interesting with the 20ir though, as when you’re amplifying a low input signal the voicing switches seem to have a bigger effect.

I like my Synergy setup. I have a couple of SYN-2's and an old modded Randall RM100. I'd trade it all in for an upgrade if Synergy would release a 100 watt, 3 module head with the functions of the 20ir. I get they need to have products for the masses, but these EL84 lunchbox amps just aren't appealing to me. They generally sound so tiny compared to their big boy tube counterparts. Not that the 20ir sounds bad, just big tubes/iron always sound more full to my ears and that's what I want.

It seems like the "100w head" option with shitloads of channels is just 2x SYN-2s, an LXII in bridge mode, and a power supply in a 4u rack.

I find the 20ir interesting as a possible first "complicated" amp for my daughter. Right now she's got a decent cab (Mesa Thiele/C90) and a cheesy little 5W el84 chinese head that's her first exploration into master volume land. But it's limited in a lot of ways (including limited gain) and a Synergy BE DLX module or something would be a lot more rocking if her interests go that way.

I think the Syn-2 with a bigass tube poweramp is currently the best way to use Synergy. I don't like the tiny amps either.

I'm thinking about getting one of those Mesa Thiels C90 cabs. Wondering how it would sound with the Synergy.

Anyone have any opinions on a SYN-1 and KSR PA-50 for a quick gig setup?

Also, are EL34s preferred in the KSR?

I haven't had a practice or gig with my Synergy 20IR yet but was just curious.

This is how I'm running my Syn-2's. Through a 300 watt SVT power amp (my BV300). All the modules I have sound massive.

They need to make the 50-IR and add Depth, NFB, Presence to it, one module, same simple clean, and be able to take most any power tube. Cant imagine that not taking over the market.

IMO the weakness in the Synergy heads are their transformers. I expected the 20w to sound small, and it's actually pretty good for what it is. I've A/Bed it to the 50w and they are quite comparable. This is not a good thing.

I've also A/Bed the 50w head to many other heads and power amps, and it always comes in last place. Granted it sounds good, but never as good as anything else I've put it up against. I'm sure Synergy is hitting a price point, not dogging on them. Seems to me like they could release a "prestige" 100W with legit iron, limit production initially, and see how it goes. And yes, an updated 50W is in order as well!
