We will be fineI don't think so... but if they were to be ramped up as a punitive measure your country won't have any friends left pretty shortly. Then you'll be like the "hermit kingdom" with the Dear Leader. A rogue state.
It's funny that all"dear leaders" tend to have weird hairdos...
Canada will respond with equivalent tariffs. Canada is the US exporters' biggest customer. Trade wars hurt everyone. Expect massive economic damage. We will be fine

I am getting badass at AI, wanna see my Thumbpicker AI I can make?We will be fine
This is probably the most level headed take on tariffs I've read so far on R/T. Well said. When people from Canada and Mexico start relentlessly telling you your Canadian and Mexican tariffs will cause you massive economic damage it's more than a safe bet it will definitely cause them massive economic damage.
One article I read this morning (from a leftist shitrag no less) claimed that economists predict these tariffs will cause "Deflation" in the US and will put Canada and Mexico into a depression. Now I ( and no one else by the way considering all the possible variables) really knows what the economic impact will be in the US. It's all just speculation, more than a little of which is dishonest speculation by people who are, eh, not objective, but one thing I'm sure of. It is going to hurt Canada and Mexico a hell of a lot more and a hell of a lot worse than it's going to hurt us.
That said, other than leveraging it against Mexico to force them to quit letting half of South America bum rush our border, I don't really think trying to damage Canada's economy ostensibly in some attempt to make them somehow stop the US drug problem, isn't or shouldn't really be a priority. I would like to see car makers and heavy equipment manufacturers like Caterpillar, Deere, etc. move all their plants back to the US and I think making their products less in demand here, by making them more expensive isn't an altogether bad idea. They moved their plants for cheaper labor, yet we still allow them unfettered access to the largest market on the planet. That seems wrong. Someone here keeps pointing out that importers pay the tariffs and that is true, but those companies and their country also stand to lose a hell of a lot of money as well.
I don't know that Trump is a genius when it comes to economics and he has a history of whipping out some half baked schemes. What I do know is that the US economy was much better for me and everyone I know during his first term than it was all 8 years of Obama and the last 4 years of whoever it was that was running this country. All the leftist bullshit that literally always gives credit for a good economy under republicans to the previous democrat administration is complete horseshit and everyone knows it. The economy has been totally fucked under every democrat president since Clinton. You can make excuses and skew statistics all you want, but if the economy is better during republican administrations and worse under democrat administrations it doesn't make any difference. The key is no democrat administrations.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see how much economic hardship occurs in the time it takes Canada and Mexico to come to the table and agree to whatever it is that Trump is trying to get them to do.

That’s not AI….
Dinner at walkabout creek.
Funny, regarding the economy under Democrats and Republicans, Trump would disagree with you...When people from Canada and Mexico start relentlessly telling you your Canadian and Mexican tariffs will cause you massive economic damage it's more than a safe bet it will definitely cause them massive economic damage.

You are an idiot, and pretending to be smart on an off topic sub forum for guitarist won’t change that. For China, that is 10% on top of what the current tariffs are. As for Mexico and Canada, the tariffs won’t last long, because their leaders are going to bend the knee and kiss the ring. You would know this if you bothered trying to learn things for yourself rather than repeating what you hear on fake news.So the US imposes a 25% Tariff on Canada but a 10% tariff on China.
With friends like that who needs enemies.
That actually makes me pretty angry. Seriously stop the aggression against allies. Also threats about annexing Canada and Greenland (also protected by Nato) are Putin-esque.
I don't care how leftwing Canada was/is - it's still deranged and very unAmerican imo.
You have a department of Defense (spelt badly I might add) not a department of Offence.
Also the futures on the ASX are down 1.2% due to this idiocy so stop buggering up inflation and the sharemarket.
That was part of the joke. And yeah nah, you ain't joining that fight. I'll glass ya at the border with a VB before you know what hit ya.Not many here would drink Fosters - it'd be hard to even find at a bottleshop however it's a good effort and the vegemite would make up for it.
I still think if the USA charges places like Canada and Australia Tafiffs it's a shabby way to treat what are effectively your brothers. Two of the most similar countries in the world to yourselves. As for trying to take Canada over - I'd actually join the military to fight against that if I was young enough. That'd just be plain wrong.
I would though - I'm serious. I would seriously fight in any effort to stop an America that suddenly changed and had German style liebensraum (expansionist - iving space) tendencies. That was part of the joke. And yeah nah, you ain't joining that fight. I'll glass ya at the border with a VB before you know what hit ya.
