Are you gonna use some chorus in every tune you play? Don't think so.

Speak for yourself, dude.

I came here in a time machine that you invented, and I need your help to get back to the year NINETEEN.......EIGHTY.....FIVE.

Chorus should be used for every instrument in every song.

i used to have a Boss CE-5 but the pedal just didn't do it for me so i'm a little leery of trying another boss chorus.

i think i might look at the T.C. SCF and the Voodoo Lab pedal if i can find either of them for the right price

not exactly a pedal, but:

Boss RCE-10 Digital Chorus Ensemble, half rack, 9V.

Sounds closer to the jazz Chorus than most things, plus, it does uber-wet 80's style unlike the CH1.

It's stereo

it does line level or Instrument.

It daisy-chains other 9V stuff.

It costs <$50

It fuckin' rules. seriously. I use it in loop 5 of my 2290.

You should here the SDX-330  It is like dipping your toes into the waters of life while a cool breeze blows upon you with rose pedals floating in the breeze.

OMG, I just went hard. no joke.

the best one of I've owned was and old Roland CE-1. i like Arion Chorus now.

Boss CE-2 or Dimension C....ADA Flanger can get close too.

Love my MIJ Boss CE-2.

Although it can be a little noisy when it's off.
Well... not noisy, but I get that faint swirling sound ya know?

so what do you guys think about the Boss CH-1 Super Chorus?

I posted my Holy Stain i'm selling on CL and someone from my college offered me his CH-1 for my Holy stain since i said i'd trade for a chorus pedal depending on what it was.

i owned the CE-5 and i didn't really like it, and i have a feeling i'll just say no but i figured i'd ask you tone knowledgeable guys first

The CH-1 sounds good, but not great.

It's not crazy-wet. It's not vintage-gritty. It's not glorously hifi. It's just okay.

I wouldn't pay more than $45 shipped for a nice one.

I wouldn't buy one again when there are better options available.

It depends on your use of chorus. If you want the thick swirling underwater effect that everybody seems to love about the old Arion chorus pedal, the Boss CH-1 isn't the best choice. If you want the "add just a bit of depth to your clean sound and/or add a little something to your gain sound--almost hard to tell if it's on" sound, the Boss CH-1 is good. I actually prefer the CH-1 to the Japanese Boss CE-2 that everybody loves as all 4 of the CE-2's I've had have been noisy and added a bit of a metallic ring to the sound.

yeah, i'd kind of like to be able to get some extreme variants out of my soon to be chorus pedal. like, be able to go extremely wet/deep sounding and be good for some hi-gain lead stuff but also some cool clean stuff as well.

too many choices!!

- Boss Dimension C
- Yamaha CH10M-II (killer analog chorus that blows away the CE-2 IMO)

I'll just stomp on my VL Analog Chorus and answer your original question: "yes". :D
(all my other pedals are MXR but the Voodoo Chorus is better than theirs IMHO! And cheaper/simpler)

Exactly. I have both and like both, it just depends on what I'm going for. I have one of the CE-2s with a silver screw at the bottom to get to the battery compartment, which are supposedly the best batch of the CE-2s, and I love it to death...but I wish it had a level knob on it sometimes to tame it a bit. I just use the CH-1 for more subtle stuff, or put it in a parallel loop and adjust the CE-2 level that way.

I've read in a couple of places that the chorus in the Roland JC-120 amps is based on the CE-2 circuitry, and a lot of people love those amps for their clean sound, so that's some more food for thought. Cheers!
