Ok, ok... so maybe I was "riding the wave of excitement" last night and wrote while still freshly-amped (no pun intended) from rehearsal. Thing is, when you've cycled SO many "high-end" amps through the mix and some of the top names simply don't cut in the band situation, when you get one that DOES, you tend to get excited about it.

I think someone above said it well--"will it be THE amp for EVERYONE... no..., but will it cover most people's needs with one amp better than most... I absolutely believe so.

My goal was not to generate hype or encourage mass Kool-Aid consumption, rather share MY experience with the amp and how impressed I am with it, considering I've owned an amp or two in my time (and still do).

Cheers,

I spent some time with that amp a couple of weeks ago; It does a really nice job with the higher gain channels, and is certainly flexible. It's very easy to play, and unlike some four channel uber high gain amps, channel four seems really useable under high gain.

All in all, I enjoyed it, but I'm not selling anything. I preferred some other amps we were also playing that day, but that's no surprise, I'm old :D

Glad you found what works for you, I have no doubt the amp will appeal to a certain segment of players

Need to rename this site to rig hype.

This. Every other day it's "OMGZORZ this is THE amp for EVERYTHING!!!". Not that a little excitement is a bad thing.

Oh, a day in the life of Rig-Talk. :D What's going to be THE amp next week? Last week it was the SLO, this week the Rhodes. Next week i predict the DAR Forza.

Don't forget about the the FBM and Natas, the best metal amps on the planet that no one has played :scared:

Clips are going to be necessary for me to get excited here... Last Rhodes video I saw/heard sounded pretty shitty. I know how hard it is to capture an amp's feel and tone with a crappy little video cam mic, but man, the video I saw just sounded buzzy and soft.

With that said, glad you're so stoked. I'm always watching for the little guys - Fortin, DAR, Rhodes, etc as they're kinda more along the lines of my interests. The underdogs in the world of Mesa and Marshall ;)

Can't wait to get a detailed review and hear some clips!!

Others I am not aware of as well have played the final version of the Natas. Not a bad list of respected formites imo.

What happened to the Acme Corporation

The Acme Co. went under fast and hard, because all of those kits that Wile E. Coyote got through his credit account weren't cheap, and well, he didn't have a job or cash to pay for all of that. I'm still amazed that he had such a large credit account with them...

It is a very nice amp, no doubt. Buzzy and soft it is not. Like you said, maybe it is just the video cam mic. I did my Colossus video with actual mics and I thought it turned out pretty good. :dunno:

Can it top this?

Yeah, not too shabby, they are all handsome men. Thing is 99% of the talk is not coming from those guys, it's other people who haven't heard either one just feeding the hype machine from some clip they heard on YouTube

A Wood will not be off the Diezel sponsorship...at least he is not done playing them. His current rig consists of his trusty Diezel Herbet and Rhodes Colossus H-100... Trust me. I am now very interested in the upcomin A Wood Sig Colossus and updated PT-100.. my next amp will be one of those.. currently still stoked with my PT-100.

What's his name is right. You guys are lame. I'm tired of talking about killer amps that pwn. I'm gonna go try to learn some tunes.

This amp for me was the most versatile and audibly appealing amp I have ever played or heard. The voicing, tone, and feel was just perfect for my approach to the fretboard. The Colossus is the most all encompassing tonal experience for the versatile player.

However, no amp can be all things to all player's, if so Reinhold would have stopped 20 years ago with the XTC. This is a business and that is why there amps like the Shiva, TJ, Goldfinger, etc for player's who prefer those over the other.

Shortly there will be a 2 channel slimmed down Colossus smaller brother with a slight difference in options and voicing. Plus there will be a 2 channel next year sometime for more of a tradition type voicing with modern features.
