torche and cynic get my vote. even if cynic is heavy on the prog / space rock thing. i simply cannot stomach modern commercial rock whatsoever. devin certainly has my respect, but his music does not speak to me at all.

All of this modern rock being posted could have been released in 1998 or 2010 and I would have had no clue. The genre has barely changed at all, it is a formula now. It all sounds like the ring music for a WWE wrestler or a UFC commercial. My favorite is the 80's dudes who decided they can't play 80's music anymore, so they tuned their guitars down to drop C, bought some Ed Hardy stagewear, and started chugging riffs to sound "modern" but still have to add the buttrock solo. They should have just stuck with the 80's hair metal, it was better and more interesting.
