Paid $50.00 for my ADA STD-1 (though it wasn't working... Cost $70.00 to fix)

One of the favorite purchases so far.

Got a mint custom shop lime green, pink and orange ESP George Lynch Kamikazi for $300 at a pawn shop

It was our drug dealer singer's guitar that he pawned with a stone looking jackson, It was $300 for each guitar and our other guitar player wanted the Jackson and I got the ESP

The standard Kamikazi was like $2500 and this one had a reverse jagged headstock and an ebony fretboard with skull inlays. I took it down to show my buddy Craig (DirrtyHairy) at a local music shop and some dude offered me $800 but I said no thanks

Nothing nearly as crazy as some of you but....

-Just bought my dead mint 4 month old 6505 for 350 bucks locally.

- Back in 2006, I bought my beloved USA jackson RR-1T at a hole in the wall music store in cocoa beach FL. It had been sitting there awhile, and I talked the guy down to I believe 800 or 850 or something like that. I thought that was a great deal on an RR-1T, plus I've NEVER seen one in this sky blue color! Similar colors yes, but not the same.

Back when I was a Marshall dealer they used to have a sales reward program. Every year for 5 years I got a free full stack. I got TSL, DSL, 2203 RI, Vintage 30 cabs, Standard cabs, all for free. Sold all of it except 2 of the Vintage 30 cabs that I got in '99. Still have them.

my best deal ever, i can't reveal! but it was a generous one to say the least.

-about 2 weeks ago i answered a local CL ad. dude had a coffee can full of tubes for 5$.
they are all mint NOS 12ax7 and 12at7. a few 6L6 and some 6V6. that's been my best tube score, although, i've had some decent ones!

-back in like 1998, i grabbed a gsp2101 artist and the 2101 board with it for like 250 at a local shop.
-got a rockman distortion generator for 10$ that was "bad" but just needed an input jack.
-got a rockman sustainor in 1998 or so for 20$ that was a rental unit
-bought an ada mp1 for 110 with the board on ebay in like 2001 or so.
-got a peavey hotfoot distortion for 20bux
-traded a jcm900dual reverb for a mid 70's sg that was all banged up, so i refinished it and it's now my daughter's guitar when she's ready.
-in 98 i bought a mesa vtwin used for i think 150 or so, and flipped it for 300 in 2001 or 2002...dumb though, i loved that thing and really just didn't have a clue!

i've also let some gear go though, at ridonkulously low prices...so, i look at it that i basically have just paid it forward at some point!

Mint pair of Yamaha NS10s - $75
Freshly tubed 5150 - $400
'66 Bandmaster - $250

ok...last one was a family deal, but still...

had a couple others, but those were pretty much through this board, and we don't need to brag about how awesome rigtalkers are.

necro bump:

about a month or so ago i grabbed a bone stock original ada mp1 for 100$, the dude lived about a mile away!

ESP Kamikazi Custom for $300 MINT!

Was lime green, pink and orange ebony fretboard with skull & crossbone inlays. Had a reverse headstock with jagged edge cut on the top

What I would do to have that guitar back

traded a quarter of bad crank ($20) for a black gibson explorer and case. (it was the 80's)

traded an 8 ball for a cavity-creep crest green esp strat (80's again. esp's were rare as hell back then)

traded a gram for a minty jcm800 head. didn't have a cab to play it though, had to make one out of particle board. (80's)

the stories go on and on......and on.

In the late 1970's I did the same thing sort of. I traded beer for Lionel trains. The drinking age was 18 but I was a big 16yr old and could buy at most places without hassle. We'd be in someone's basement and I'd scan for the orange boxes. If I found some I'd offer the kid a case of beer for the trains. I had boxes of old 40's and 50's Lionel trains I sold for guitars as my hobby changed.

New Mesa Boogie Recto 2:100 poweramp for $500 at GC. These were selling for I believe $1200 or $1400 at the time. They had the ol Fourth of July sale and happened to blow this out.

1989 Hamer Californian LE w/ boomerang inlays AND reverse head stock for......$100.
Summer 2008 there was and ad on my local CL for "Hamer guitar $150". I called and asked the seller if it had "Made in USA" on the headstock. "Yes" he replied. So I offered $100 if I came on over and got it and he accepted. Turns out it was a limited run of 40 or so done in 1989. Like I said reverse headstock and boomerang inlays, which I found out is pretty rare on the the same guitar. Mahagony body, ebony 27 fret board, no case. The finish was a flip flop purple which was beat to heck all around the edges of the body (looked really cool), but other than that it was like it had hardly been played. Virtually no fret wear. The neck, headstock and all the hardware was in great shape.
I wish I had kept it but I ended up selling it for $800 plus shipping to a guy in Canada that already had 2 or 3 from this run.

Dead mint splawn Quickrod from guitar center in 2006 before they new
What they were: 900 bucks.

Blow out sale: brand new Jackson rr1T ( still my main live axe) 900 bucks.

My deliverance 4x12, that I bought brand new for 769, sold it a few years later, then rebought it off the same guy, in mint condition, 450 bucks.
