The biggest douche-bag in music

Okay, I guess he doesn't really meet all of the criteria, but man I think this guy is a major douchebag.

I would say he's the closest to meeting all of the OP's requirements.

I'm not into his political bullshit agenda and for all the musicians everyone has mentioned so far, he has the least talent of all of them, IMO.

Apparantly Tom is a really nice guy though. Ive never heard one story about him acting like a douchebag.

Not liking his guitar skills or political views is one thing, but assuming he has a douchebag personality without having any evidence is pretty lame.

That said, Zakk Wylde is pretty high on my list for douchebag guitarists. And he is one talented motherfucker.

Hmmm, Mustaine self-references himself as a legend an awful lot. Some kid won a private lesson from him and he's like, "Do you realize who's presence you're in" ?

Another good one is how he perpetually reiterates his playing level to be "the top of the mountain". And how nobody can really hang with him there. He generously granted Dimebag as the only player from the last 15 yrs that join him at that level. WTF ??? Sorry Dave, you did some really awesome stuff way back when, but you've been eclipsed MANY times over by a whole generation of new players that kick your ass !

And don't get me started on his born again Christian ramblings. He says its taught him the art of humility. Yeah right

Ritchie Blackmore is probably up there somewhere. I remember seeing Rainbow in 1983...they came out, played two songs, Ricthie got mad, threw his guitar in to the audience. End of concert.

Blackmore was known for his stubborness/moodiness/assholeness and took practical jokes to a grotesque/evil level that literally had band members freaked out to the point of quitting....read the "Black Knight" biography, he was a fucking crazy/wierd son of bitch...he was beyond douchbag, although he is one of my biggest guitar idols, i think he was a horrible human being.

Agreed, from all accounts of him he's a really nice guy, and from what I've seen, and not heard, he can play pretty damn well, just chooses not to.

i use to think tommy lee was a douche for having a starbucks in his house. but really, if any of us had the money, we'd have sumthin that we thought was cool...like a soda machine or a fridge full of beer...and really, what's the difference? personally, i'd like to have a fridge full of gatorade...but to someone out there, that's a douche-move.
i find it's alot easier to think someone's a douchebag when you don't like their music. but just cuz you don't like their music, doesn't make them a douchebag either...

But the critieria for douchebagness is different for everyone, right? Unless there's some douchebag definition out there I have to understand before using that label?

No, I read one of his interviews before Audioslave broke up and he was actually pissed that they brought up the rumour that Chris was doing other projects and the band was falling apart. He came off as a complete bullshitter to me in that interview. That along with his political agenda, which I don't really care to hear about but he kept bringing up in the interview...... and along with my opinion that he lacks any notable guitar skills other than creating weird noises, which the OP said should count, puts him at the top of my list.

For the record, I have met plenty of 'nice' people who turned out to be douchebags. I don't know him but then neither does anyone here personally know Axl, Zakk, Ritchie, Gene or Paul. I'm just going off of what I have read and my impressions, just like anyone else here.

This reminds me of the Japanese in my area that were placed in internent camps during world war 2. Alot of them were surprised at the people they thought were their friends that turned out to despise them and some of the people that they thought did not like them actually turned out to be their good friends, watching over and taking care of their homes while they were locked up.

Morello may be a real good guy and I am wrong but first impressions always last...

I'm surprised you expect everyone else to go by your definition, instead of their own.

Its a pretty universal definition.

+1 Ive met him in St Louis and he is very cool, nice and very down to earth. We talked about music, he's a huge fan of great guitar players btw, and he didnt even start in on a political bullshit discussion. I dont get down with a lot of his political views anyway. That said, he can play "normal" style rock guitar very well. I've had heard him do just that. So people are entitled to call anyone a "douchebag" if they wish but if the definition includes a person being rude in person or a bad player I know first hand Tom is neither.
