Yea, it's cool to talk about how much smarter we are then many of their staff members

To denigrate Guitar Center employees was in no way the intent of my post..I do a TON of business with them and have a great relationship with the local shop, but which unfortunately is 60 miles away, which is not all that local..

But let's face it...they are understaffed.. both by numbers, and yes, knowledge levels in some cases...all the high end electric guitars are locked in the upper racks, and it just about takes legislative action to get your hands on one of them, and much much more to field test multiple units..and that is if you can actually get the sales associate away from the register at all.. it takes 5 minutes per customer for them just to check phone number, email address and other crap from a customer who just wants to buy a set of strings or a few picks...And on top of that, the phone never stops ringing

The local guitar shop is doomed..such is the way of the world

I wasn't referring to your post, just about any mention of GC on here slams their employees. There's even a bunch of memes about them.

Contrary to the testimony of many, I have never found the 'magical guitar' off the rack at GC or any other place...I generally leave the stores with nothing simply because it's too much hassle to get technical details from sales personnel ...

I got lucky once, my ESP Eclipse was marked as a LTD EC1000.

I got a near $2000 guitar for $503.25 out the door. Lol.

I didn't ask any questions and ran out the door. Lol

I am hoping there will be more swap meets with groups of people who meet and bring stuff to buy, sell, and trade. There is one around here once in a while, but I have not checked it out. Kind of like gun shows are. That way you could demo stuff without dealing with people individually on CL.

If there was a decent amount of people, I would not mind paying $5 at the door on occasion.

amazon is killing every industry not just music.
that coupled with overall unmitigated greed and real estate inflation brick and mortar has been decimated and amazon will continue to destroy what was formerly known as main street USA.
also selling on amazon is very hard and they are constantly taking more %'s from sellers and making them jump thru hoops
jeff bezos is the richest white scumbag on the planet and so far totally unstoppable
there are about 2600 billionaires right now and very few of them are giving back ANYTHING
the future for the poor and the neo fuedalist middle class masses is grim.

read all about it here

and this is not partisan!
don't think for a minute this is liberal vs conservative.

this is the elite crushing and devouring everything while the masses are hypnotized and divided by the slime scum that is your :government" and or "politics" which thrives on dividing the masses with racial /religious tension and economic inequality and poor health care all accomplished while fleecing 35% of your income and taxing you again every chance they get

Walmart dug the graves for main street USA a decade or more ago..all the abandoned shopping centers around the country are true evidence of it..Amazon is just shoveling in the dirt...but It's an ugly situation as a whole..

Facebook and twitter do provide a virtually free way to advertise local shops and services, and I have done a bunch of good business with good people off Craigslist too..as far as music gear and services go, this is the only answer I can see right now..

Reverb.com is fantastic with regards to buying/selling stuff in short order, but damn, the fees, taxes and shipping costs drill you a new asshole on every tranaction..I don't think the reverb model will survive long-term for that reason

Long live Craigslist and honest musicians    But such is the world we live in..and it could be much worse

Yikes on the last couple of posts. Grim stuff.

On the bright side, the recent taxes for online sales should help brick & mortar.
I have been exclusively an online shopper for >10 years, but with taxes in place I find myself visiting places like Guitar Center once again.
