Not quite what I thought they'd go for, but still up there.
Definitely curious to what that (as well as a Tungsten block) sound like... Wish someone that has tried them would chime in...

i just heard directly from floyd rose (not the guy, the company) about these and...

it's all TI...

Bridge
Arm
Nut
String retainer
Studs & inserts
Claw

the claw puzzles me, didn't know you could solder to TI but either way that sounds even cooler since so much of it is TI. a bit lower in price and i'd try one.

You need to get the Tungsten in a 37mm original size block and try it out.

Maybe, but I'd be even more interested to compare their larger one.

Didn't know that you could solder to Ti either, learn something new every day I guess... ;)

Ti baseplates and claws now too, huh? Interesting; there's so many permutations going now, lots of interesting combinations possible. For example, I'm told Warren Demartini's Koa Strat has a Brass L- block and Ti saddles. Pretty impressive sounding in this clip:

There's got to be some pretty killer-sounding combinations out there yet to be discovered.

that thing is probably like 3 pounds.

  Good point...

So.....no one's tried the Tungsten block yet? Either size? Bueller? :D

Slackers.....j/k.

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents , as I have owned the Brass block , Titanium block and the saddles and honestly I liked the regular Brass block the best . It had a warm full tone that improved sustain , better bottom end , but overall didn't change the tone just made it bigger and better.

The Titanium had a bigger impact on the tone almost scooping the mids a bit and adding a brighter top end which made the low end seem a little less . Overall a more modern sound and not as warm to my ears .
The Titanium saddles made it even more Hi fi which I didn't care for.

I was using the blocks in 2 Tom Anderson's if you were wondering.

I prefered the brass myself , but I am not slamming the Titanium as I know some people really like it , I really depends on the amp , guitar , etc. but the Brass is where it's at for me .

Thanks for the review. I like both the Brass and Ti. For some reason, I prefer the Ti a tiny bit more. Maybe I should try brass again.

Brass is more vintage compared to Titanium which is more modern would sum it up the best .

Although , now that I think about it Tom Anderson Guitars do have a more modern type of vibe than say a Charvel / Jackson type of axe , so that could also be a factor  that may also be why I thought the Titanium was so modern sounding and I would love to hear it in another floyd equipped guitar maybe in one of my Suhr's , but they sound great with the stock blocks that Suhr uses .

I too like them both, and agree it really depends on the guitar it's going in and what you're looking to do with it...

This one's hard to top...
Here's a cool review none other than Steve Stevens himself posted over at Huge Rigs...

"Hey Fellow Geetar Playa's
I recently upgraded my Gotoh equipped Suhr Modern with the full on titanium upgrade courtesy of Adam Reiver at Floyd Upgrades.floydupgrades.com/. It's quite the chunk of change for the full deal, but this guitar is now so sonically pure, it's almost stealth. It really truly made one huge difference. I am bringing only 1 wang bar guitar on tour for Billy Idol 2010. I figured just bring the best. Through my rig, just tapping on this geetar now makes the earth shake."

Similar setup as Demartini, it appears...Ti saddles and a Brass block...

I'm very interested in hearing a tungsten block in a Suhr Modern.

BTW, does any1 know what size would fit perfectly in the Suhr Modern Gotoh Floyd?

I applaud anyone who takes the time out to give relavent clip info on gear choices, what a huge Help that is!! I dont care if there are kikbacks involved or someone gets a discount, or a reach-around, or anything else for that matter, or Not. What Assbucket would praise something they dropped $ on an secretly Hated?!?? Clips can help eliminate guesswork and narrow choices when it's time to plunk down $ for something your unsure of yet. I've been wondering about and considering floyd blocks for quite a while. These things aint Free and the more info I can acquire the better I feel when it's time to pull the trigger. We're a community of guitar loving/playing bozos looking for the next 'toy' that'll give a tone upgrade or enhancement, and at the end of the day I deceide if what I hear is worth my hard earned dollars no matter how many times something gets praised or bumped. So how is this post a bad thing?? I hope the OP keeps right on making changes and putting up clips and bumping this cause thats invaluable info to me. rock out wit'cha cac out!!

Glad you like. :D The quest continues, never fear...I'm always looking for, in the words of Spinal Tap "that little extra push over the cliff" as it were. I'll be adding more clips in the near future, stay tuned!!

Good stuff. I've been seriously considering the brass block.

I just did the brass big block, titanium blocks, brass claw & silent springs and am so far quite pleased with the differences. The guitar definitely sounds a little ballsier and smooth. I was pretty surprised at the difference even just unplugged.

I'm very guilty of being anal retentive about tonal characteristics, but I didn't really notice a difference when I swapped out the trem block of my Ibanez Jem for a brass one.

No experience with the Ibanez Edge trem, but...
Somebody has to be the exception to the rule, I guess... ;) J/K - some won't, y'know? Like they say, tone is subjective. I've run into maybe one or two people on the forums I frequent besides you that didn't. Actually, one said he could tell a difference, but it "wasn't the one he was looking for" Conversely, a few of my buddies I've turned on to them have said it was to quote one, "THE best thing you could do to a Floyd-equipped guitar". As the saying goes, YMMV.

Personally I haven't heard any guitar that didn't benefit from a Brass block upgrade (or a Ti, for that matter!). It may happen someday, but hasn't yet...

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a difference. The only way I could tell is to compare the same guitar without the block. I like to think that my ears aren't horrible, but the difference just didn't leap out at me.

Speaking of tone being subjective, I recently did an A/B of batteries, and I can easily tell the difference between Carbon Zinc and Alkaline, but unlike Scott Henderson and Eric Johnson, I didn't think the Carbon Zinc was drastically better on anything other than my Ultimate Octave. I tried an Xotic RC Booster, AC Booster, Zvex Fuzz Factory, a Maxon OD9, and an HBE Full Metal Jacket. Couldn't hear a difference with the Maxon OD9 at all. With the other pedals it just sounded different, not really better.

anyone messed with tungsten vs brass? im thinking about getting a tungsten block for my ESP
