No probs. Thanks for the kind words. Hope you enjoy, seems many have thus far. :D
If your N4 doesn't have an OFR, I'd check with Adam to see which one of his offerings will fit it, but trust me - you'll be glad you did, whichever flavor (Brass or Ti) you decide on....as many have agreed, either is a vast improvement over the standard.

As for the shootout - I just thought it kinda needed to be done...so, had a free day, knocked it out. Nothing fancy, but now there are audio links to point people to...

Psshh I didn't need to hear the clips, I was sold when you said the drummer noticed a difference.

Powerful testimonial right there, huh? :D Actually, my former drummer also emailed to congratulate me on the test ("except for the drummer crack") and indicated he can hear the difference too - so that's officially TWO drummers!!

That should be Adam's new sales chop - "Tonal improvement so dramatic even a drummer can hear the difference!"

TWO drummers? Adam should be proud!

BUMPAGE... :D

The response to this so far has been extremely positive...pretty cool!

They work, there is an improvement..I got a brass block on my custom shop jackson...everything sounds bigger and more organic now!...Adam is also a great guy to work with..Floyd Rose started the ball rolling; Adam's upgrades puts the final touch on a already great trem!

True that...I actually sort of detest the sound of the standard blocks now that I've heard the difference...it's almost gnat-like by comparison!

The Titanium BB's have been reduced in price by 50%....

I like your review. Great work!

Thanks, glad you like.

Btw, did a double-track on a rhythm for a tune I'm working on I'd done previously with my Koa Warmoth, the only variant from the original track this time being the addition of the Brass claw and the springs - sounds a little brighter and punchier with the same amp emulation and Recabinet cab/mic sims...convinced they have a subtle but noticeable impact too..

Do you think the upgrade parts would have as noticeable effect if the trem was setup for divebombs only ? I've noticed guitars w/Floyds sound & feel more solid (better) when the bridge is not fully floating.

I don't think I'll spring the cash for titanium but I'm pretty sold on the brass.

Not all of my Floyds are recessed, so I can say with some certainty - they do indeed. They improve the tone of any Floyd, regardless of the pitch-setup

They make a pretty strong statement unto themselves, don't they? I'm sticking with Brass on two of my guitars.

OK, did some more recording so I thought I'd stop by with two more albeit rough mix examples of the bed guitar tracks for two tunes where I used the Brass and Titanium blocks exclusively on both the leads and the dirty rhythm tracks for each:

Here's one using the Brass:

For that one I used my trusty vintage Charvel mutt (with a Duncan TB-5, for those keeping score ;) ):

And here's one where I used the same Koa Warmoth (Duncan TB-11-equipped) Strat used in the shoot out with the Titanium Block:

For both tracks I used the same PODfarm Soldano preset and Recabinet 4x12/ 3-mic emulation set up for the rhythms and leads. Granted, the different guitars have their own personalities (pickups are the same wind, different magnet), but you'd think using an amp emulation they'd still sound pretty similar. I think the blocks are IMO the big reason why on the tune with the Brass block the guitars sound like they have a little more CHUNK on the low-end, and the tracks on the Titanium example have a little more urgent "Oh, NO you did-ent"  vibe about them. All depends on what you're looking, or more correctly listening for, or trying to convey in your tones. You really can't go wrong with either.

didnt like the titanium at all :(

the brass is cool, more open tone and clarity, but i think the stock is still coll since have more compresed tone.

Well, you're probably the first person to say that... ;) but you're certainly entitled to your opinion.

That's the only thing I'd disagree with there - once I'd heard the Brass and Ti, the stock block is only good for a paper-weight IMO. :D

Relevancy BUMP

OK, soon I get to have some real fun: Re-imagining a Charvel Mutt I built shortly after high-school from parts purchased from a then-nearby supplier with a Charvel parts deal back in the day. At any rate, decided to swap bodies, am trading out a Maple one for a Northern Ash replica one (sure, swamp would have been preferable, but the price was right) due to show up next week and now I get to find out which block type works best with this baby.

Fortunately I have a couple of spare black Floyds; going to do a dry run assembly before sending it off for paint, will try the Titanium Big-Block first, but the plan is to have another Floyd with the Brass Big-Block installed at the ready should I decide the Ti is too much in that body...can't imagine it will be, but gotta love options, right? :D

Plus I know from my other Northern Ash body with the Brass Big-Block installed, in the unlikely event I don't dig the Ti in the new one, I'll certainly dig it with Brass.

Body showed up today...  almost time for another Block-party... :D

The body's a KnE...first one I've tried, very pleased with it as well, on a par with Musikraft and Warmoth at first look/test fit I'd say...but then that would probably be another thread. ;)

This kinda dawned on me when it was (kinda) too late to do it  , but it'd would be kinda cool, if not to post here, but for my own OCD ears..comparison clips done between the Brass and Ti blocks in this Ash body (as opposed to Koa in the original example clips)...but I already swapped out the saddles on the Floyd with the Ti Block installed for Graph Tech saddles, and was already using the original saddles on a MIG Floyd baseplate Ebay score/rebuild...could hypothetically still pull them and do it, but would kind of be a pain...but I kind of want to hear it... :D

Compounding things I'm starting to hear less-than flattering things about the GT saddles - like they're very fragile...guess I need another set of regular saddles...could've sold a kidney for some FloydUpgrades Ti saddles, but that's how I'm paying for the paint-job already...

Based on pics of the Ti saddles I've seen, and already trying the stainless hardware on black, imagining they'd look pretty cool on a black baseplate too...

This is kind of starting to seem like a farce to me. Why do you keep bumping a 3 month old thread? What's in it for you? Why have you barely taken part in any other convos or left any other comments here on RT? Why do you just keep bumping this thread over and over? Is the dude giving you free blocks for trying to get him some business or something? I'm sorry but I just sense something fishy about this. I love a lot of products that I've had success with but I don't just keep bumping my own thread and swinging off a particular suppliers nuts for three months straight...

guess he hasnt quite figured-out the difference between posting replies that are meaningful to the topic and other members of rig talk, and posting personal off topic opinions mangled in mindless rambling about "selling left nuts for $400 blocks" which no one gives a fuck about reading in the first place.

he was doing great when he created the topic 3 months ago. his browny points have slipped.

he will figure it out eventually.

until then, the ignore function is a great tool. use it :D
