you know the amplifier - the one that is responsible for the rhythm and lead tones of the BFTA album from lynch.

i know aspen sold it to GC along with the rest of his collection to fund USA tube productions.

i know i've heard rumors that someone over at plexipalace owns it currently.

im making it a mass effort to find the original owner of this amplifier - for history reasons if not for my own wondering and everyone else too.

im sure im not the only lynch fan out there that wonders where this thing is at :D

im going to register at each and every forum to see if i can get some help on locating it. any help or info would be appreciated

The first Lynch Mod cd is the one that I reference when speaking of the purple plexi, here is a vid of him using it......

Forum memeber Squarehead has said that the amp blew up and was beyond repairing, he stated I THINK that he had a shot at that amp at one point. PM him for his take.

Yeah that's what i remember reading too!

I seem to remember that it had a blown power or output tranny, and that when they replaced it it never ever sounded close to the tone it had before.

Of course you and I have that tone now anyways ;)

BTW I have not tried your settings yet, will do so soon!

I correct you too Scott. Plexis are worth about two to three times as much as an early metal panel Super Lead. Try telling guys on a Mustang forum that a '72 is as cool as one of their '65-70's and see what happens. :D

I went to the Corral one time talking up my 1977 Cobra II and did not understand the backlash that I received

Biggest v8 POS EVER....................

I had a '78, and even though it was a POS, it was a damn fun POS. :-)

I never tried to delude myself into thinking it was even in the same family as my uncles 2 '70 Boss 302's though.

I never owned one but I had a friend that had one, cool looking but just zero power compared to early 70s stuff. He wanted to race my 70 340 Duster once, I had to look hard in the rearview to find him

I want a new Mustang BAD

What Vrad said. '68 and '71 seem to be the good years! George, Jake and the boys like them a lot.

This is the amp you're thinking about sending to Fortin to be modded?

I have to admit no way would I have a 71 modded unless it was screwed to begin with.

MV maybe but that would be it.

If it is then Mike will more then likely tell him not to do it ;)

Just for the record....That rig is flat out killer looking!!!

At this point you just don't mod an amp like that. Custom color early metal panel :gethim: :gethim: :gethim:

And I've read Mike comment that he doesn't like to mod amps like that.

Actually 71 had an inordinate amount of duds due to a run of bad output transformers, I had one, and no matter what was tried, it sounded weak and shitty. Different tubes, mods etc, nothing worked. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you get fucked. :aww:

There's actually no difference between a 72 and a 71 either in their circuit etc other than some 72's had the "Chicklets" on the board, which made no difference in tone.
