Yeah, you would think it might become routine and perfect after that many years.
Still Marshalls on 5150 tour... Lots of them...DICKROSE":17ogubiw said:I just prefer the live tone from that 5150 tour. SLO ??
Wasn't that when he started using them.
I wasn't at that show, but I saw every tour from '79-'84...mdc1mdc11":mhg3uxom said:sah5150":mhg3uxom said:Here's the peak to me:DICKROSE":mhg3uxom said:

Yes, and I was in that audience watching it.

I think the best ever live solo in terms of keeping it interesting, not too long, and full if fireworks was Randy Rhoads. At least the one he did on the Tribute album. I think of that as the best big arena live solos ever.
Rik Emmett from Triumph did a live solo that was like 30 fucking minutes long, it was soooo overdone. Yngwie as great as he is gives you everything he has 100 times over so he even gets boring.
I imagine myself being in a normal person's shoes when the drum or bass solo starts...............time to take a piss.
Yup, only Marshalls:DICKROSE":2k94jyfv said:Really? Sounds like he has a slight more gain, warmer tone. Marshalls and nothing else?
DICKROSE":22owjl9p said:I looked it up and saw those pics today also. I guess his signal by that tour was much more processed? Just seems fuller to my ears that the link from largo you posted.
DICKROSE":22owjl9p said:I also thought that I read he used SLO's in the studio during that time?

The suicide solution middle solo was a study for me groing up. Best entertaining solo i heard. Clean, precise and very catchy. Best live Marshall tone i heard too.
That whole album is gold.

This. Give him a break...he's like 60...legend71":2o542hgz said:At this point I think VH is going to do what he is known for. His days of innovating on guitar are long gone. He still plays very well live. You can't be young and hungry forever.....
I think he started using SLO before the FUCK album. Then recorded most of the rhythm tracks with it.DICKROSE":6bp8fdnf said:I just prefer the live tone from that 5150 tour. SLO ??

I learned part of Randy's live solo back when I was stationed in South Korea in 87-88. Got up on stage with some DOD band that they used to fly overseas to 'tour' the NCO clubs and played it on set break. I had my solid state Marshall combo and Ibanez Destroyer shipped over lol..danyeo":bju3ubeh said:Bob Savage":bju3ubeh said:I've definitely changed over the years...
