I personally would appreciate you know.....

A real 5150 tone....

Like a 5150 would sound you know....since it is a 5150.....why not give us the 5150 sound.

Yes give blue, and purple and polka dot channel.....but first make us the original bare bones give us tweaked versions of that on top of it and then go from there

Idk about everyone else but I was highly disappointed when I tried out the ones they have made so far.....

I was like wheres the 5150!?!?!?

Its got the name but not the sound.

Whats up with that!?!?

Give us a real 5150!??!

And then maybe give us Blue or Purple or whatever but mainly start with the OG tone.

Old rodded 68 slp style, maybe some nice irs /di option

This thread is vague as all F#@K. What are you trying to say?

Pretty much James Brown is on the EVH team at FMIC designing these new EVH amps....

If you had input....

How would you like em....what would you want out of the 5150.

Main thing I was saying....I want a 5150.....because the new ones sound nothing like originals. Not even close.

See the EVH ones sound nothing like an Original Peavey 5150 or 6505.....why call it a 5150!?!?

Main thing Im saying the new channels are not so cool IMO and they should atleast provide the original 5150 tone and then maybe give us the extra new chanels......but for sure at a minimum they should provide the base OG 5150 tone, offer tweaks on it as well and then the new channels in addition after they make an actual 5150 that sounds like a 5150.

The EVH sounds pretty amazing man, not like a 5150 OG, of course damn it, it ain’t one!!! It is a 5150 III.

If you want the OG tone, get one.

This is evolution. And i like it.

The original Peavey's are one trick ponies.... good trick, but still.....
All the new 5153's sound really good in their own right ( albeit different ) but are waaaaaay more versatile amps.
I mean jezus... the originals are cheap enough, if you want that tone, just go buy one.

I'll play (as an owner of the MKI 6L6 5153 50W)

I would like to see
-Clean (green) channel more Fendery/Mesa Mark-clean.
-Add bright switch to Green (and maybe blue) channel.
-keep blue channel otherwise as it is.
-Tweak red channel for more raw/kerrang tone (basically more O.G. 5150) and get rid of that slightly plastic sounding mid-thing.
-Make sure to keep low-end big and tight, but chewy/chunky at the same time. Inspiration is Marshall/Soldano, not Fryette. ;)
-Less insane gain on red. There's a reason a knob goes to 10 (or 11). Currently with stock tubes, turning the gain above 12 'o clock is useless. (hence my tube-rolling with lower gain NOS tubes)

Optional goodies:
-2nd master volume for leads
-onboard (digital) reverb like the Engl Ironball, with a mix/level knob on the back.
-maybe a powersoak (50W/5W/1w) with speaker-sim/IR loader on board, but that's pushing it. I could do without.

It will be interesting what Mr. Brown adds to the fold.

Personally, I'd like to see the blue channel a little angrier sounding, and the red to be an extension of that, with useable gain past 12:00.

My Splawn Competition is just that, with Gear 1 & Gear 2. Boosted with a VFE Dragon, I could care less what EVH does. Still won't touch my Splawn.

A good point indeed! I've been using mine in a Maiden-tribute and ofcourse do all the rhythm stuff on blue. But it's bigger and more open sounding, as well as more dynamic for leads, compared to red.
So if Red was more in line with blue (a bit hotter and more compressed, fine, but now it's way more congested too) that would be a big plus.

Since mine is lacking the dual concentric pots for Green/Blue, I solve this issue with coilsplits on all my guitars with humbuckers.
Green/Blue gain around 1 or 2 o' clock sounds glorious for blue and when switching to green, coilsplitting the axe, gives a great, sparkly, but slightly pushed clean tone.

A head box that actually fits standard 4/12 cabs would be nice... I know why they did it though... EL34's and a channel that actually sounds like the old Marshalls used on the first few records. They always screw it up when they try to make it into a metal/thrash amp

I would like if he did other amps period. Like something different from the 5150. Peavey had some variety for awhile. It would be nice if EVH would too. Seems like both EVH and Peavey are basically just pushing different versions of the same amp over and over. Just want to see something to get excited for.

please not for the 50W.
That's what the 100W version is for. I enjoy the smaller width 50W version on my vertical 2x12 cab(s).
Those cabs are 20" and 24" wide; ideal for the smaller head box.

I think i miss represented this thread. I sure as hell am happy the MR Brown is on board.

Bit i stiil would not want the original 5150 sound in a new amp. I would very much like a new thing, we can have the original all day long with an original. A truly accurate tone machine that would go from 1977 to 1995 era Eddie tones with a truly Fender clean.

Sign me up for one!!!!

In general I prefer the EVH line of amps over the Peavey versions. HOWEVER, if I was just playing extreme metal than the original Peavey 5150 would be the way to go.

The original 100w EVH (w/ original Sovtek and EHX tubes) was the best version of the 5150 line IMO. A very close second is the original 50w. I still own the 50w because of size and midi functionality.
Either of these amps along with a tube screamer gets you any genre, and does them extremely well. It’s the perfect gigging amp for the working cover band guitarist.

So I would like to see EVH take the 50w 6l6 version and use it as the basis for another model. Maybe try to make it a little smaller, add reactive/IR loading capabilities and be able to assign these IR’s to each channel independently.

....Or make a ‘68 Plexi single channel clone ??

So having owned and compared them all, personally I would say the Peavey 5152/6505+ sounds very much like the Fender EVH 100w head . I could dial them in to sound nearly identical. The Peavey 5150/6505 which is the first version of these amps I do agree is the most different out of them all but still the core sound of the high gain channel is there in all of them , very similar only slightly different. Have you had them side by side ? Ive done shootouts with them and its really close.

Yeah its time to do something different, exactly what Im not sure, lol. But as you said if you want the 5150 tone its already out there in spades.

^^no I meant the 100 watter
Uhm, to my knowledge those are the right width already to fit a 4x12.

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... ck-stealth
Height: 10.25"
Width: 29.75"
Depth: 11.5"
Weight: 55 lbs.

Marshall 1960A Width: 29.92"
Diezel 412 FV: Width: 29"
Mesa Rectifier 412: Dimensions: 32-7/8 (H) x 30-1/8 (W) x 14-1/4 (D)

Its just a little longer than a 2203 or typical marshall @ 29.5" it just looked like off sitting on my marshall cab when I had one years ago
