I don't know anything about Korn but I was recording some tunes for a friend a few years ago and I guess the engineer was playing a couple of the tunes and Brian Welch was there (he was working on his solo stuff with Steve Gadd (that's another story) and Brian asked how we got such pure, clean but ballsy tones.
The singer told him it was all Stratocaster and Marshall Plexi (JTM45). He said, "oh, cool".
I'm sure that kind of rig was pretty foreign to Brian. They said he was a great guy.
