There will be windows. At this point it's not necessary. We have a bit of work ahead of us on the inside of the building.

Here we are with most of the building in place and there are some very awesome people in these pictures.

My wife Angelica, who has unconditionally supported this project and never waivers. She simply kicks ass! I couldn't ask to be with a better woman and I am grateful to have her in my corner.

The two people that executed difficult construction in very windy conditions...Antonio and Marcelo. I really admire their fearless and kind nature. I think these guys a probably geniuses after I've seen some of the things that they've pulled off. Antonio and Marcelo, thank you for being such awesome friends.

Now for the introduction of two people that I hold in very high regard...and they are simply awesome friends...Oz and Ana Hofstatter. If you've been to Austin and visited the Austin Guitar House then you more than likely have met one or both of them. In my opinion they have the coolest guitar shop on the planet. Yes they do have cool gear and the single most important part in my opinion are the people who run the shop. They are what makes the shop so cool. I am extremely fortunate to have Oz and Ana as my friends and my world has been significantly upgraded as a result of knowing these two people. Oz and Ana thank you for being simply awesome friends.

I hope you enjoy these pictures. There are more to come.

Hi 155. Thank you for stopping by and checking this out. I hope you're having a great day on your end!

its looking great.

I pity you when you start filling it up with recording goodies.

that is the true definition of "the money pit."

recording gas is very very bad!

The shell is complete. Antonio and Marcelo did a fantastic job completing the shell and they pulled some long days in completing this job. The only thing I can say besides how AWESOME these guys are is THANK YOU! They really kick ass in my opinion.

The next step of this process is to get the materials delivered.

I hope you enjoy these pictures.

Hi everyone. Here we are with 52 tons of materials moved inside the shell. This was a brutal day of lifting. Since we didn't have an opening big enough for the delivery truck to drive through we had to use Dave's truck to bring the materials in. The only reason I know it's 52 tons of materials is that Dave actually crunched the numbers. This is only part of the materials that we will need to get the job started. By the end of the day we all felt like our arms were contracted like that of a T-Rex. Again, if it wasn't for Dave describing how we all felt I wouldn't have thought of it myself.

This is one of those rare occasions when you get to find out who your true friends are and on this day Anthony, Dan and Dave were nothing shy of stellar. Thank you guys for pulling my ass out of the fire by helping bring all these materials in. At the end of this I don't think that there was any more appropriate beverage than BEER to try and take some of the pain away.

The other thing you will notice is all the spray foam insulation on the inside of the building. Since I didn't like the crappy insulation that came with the building we decided to upgrade and go with something that we knew would deaden the metal shell.

Moving forward you are going to be seeing a lot of work done by Dave himself. Since this is his design he gets veto power.

Enjoy!

This is an awesome thread! Thanks for sharing all the pics and the color commentary! I hope this thread endures from breaking ground through to the first recordings (with links posted here!). This thread will take on its own life in the forum archives for years to come and have many more entertained readers. Keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing updates! Cheers mate! :m17: :m4:

Hi T-Rexx22. Thank you for the vote of confidence. I don't necessarily realize that I'm adding color commentary so much as I am simply being as honest as I can about the people around me. When I see these people that have helped me out I begin to feel like a mental midget. Then I realize how kind and supportive they are of me and then I know how lucky I am. I am a big fan of the simple phrase that...IF I DIDN'T SAY IT, YOU DIDN'T HEAR IT! If I seem like I hold these people in super high regard the truth of the matter is that I do and without them none of this would be possible. More than anything I simply appreciate people checking in. I do make it a point to respond to everyone that takes the time to post something. I look forward to seeing what you think of the next set of pictures. I hope you are having a great day!

You have a lot of time and money tied up into that foundation and building. Thanks for sharing the build pictures with us. Quite the undertaking - but that is what chasing dreams is all about. Much luck all the way to completion

Hi Glpg80. You're right about the foundation and building. You are also welcome for the pictures. I think when this unfolds all the way you'll really see an undertaking. So far this has been pretty easy. Thank you also for the kind words. You are greatly appreciated. I need all the luck I can get.

After a week of being sore from moving the materials the construction begins on the studio. This work is being done by Dave Del Valle and should you be interested in contacting him his e-mail address is:

Dave Del Valle (Austin, TX)
delroscoe@gmail.com

One thing about Dave is that he likes to take his time to make sure things are done right and if it's not done right then it's not worth doing. The floor plan is Dave's design and what he thinks is the most flexible and user friendly studio. He told me that if he were to build his own studio that this is what he would build. He designed the live room so it would be able to produce a wide variety of sounds.

The floor that is being worked on at the moment is for the live room. The studio will be completely decoupled from the floor, the walls and the ceiling. This is what's been accomplished so far.

I hope you enjoy these pictures. Thank you for checking this out.

This thread is amazing. Inspiring in fact.

I wish you every success.

Thread filled with pure AWESOMENESS!! I had no idea when I first hit it that it would be a building from absolute SCRATCH!!! Its gotta be a killer feeling to be building your own building, vice having to get an old one and make sacrifices trying to mold what it already there into what you want!! just KILLER!!!

Here it is another week gone past and a little more construction completed. What Dave continues to work on is the live room floor. As you can see, Dave is quite meticulous about his work. As this construction unfolds you will find that there isn't a day that goes by that I don't have something positive to say about him. In short, Dave is simply an amazing person and a great friend.

Here it is another week gone by with a little more work being completed. In this set of pictures we have put mineral fiber in the floors which will soon be covered up by two layers of OSB sub flooring. The nice part about this is having less insulation to place. This stuff is not much fun.
