THE NOIZ FAKTORY RECORDING STUDIO - Construction Thread

Hi everyone. I wanted to apologize for the much delayed posting. Life got busy with work and working on this building and thus the postings had to take a back seat. I wanted to do a quick update and show the exterior portions of the live room and the control room. In addition to that you will see a large vocal booth taking shape and two amp rooms. On top of the amp rooms is a balcony. It seemed like such a bad use of space to build the amp rooms all the way to the ceiling and so we wanted to get as much versatility out of the live room as possible. The drywall missing from the exterior of the live room is so we can run ducting for HVAC into the live room. One other cool point in my opinion is the fact that the exterior of the live room is not touching the "I" beams. Yes you still can get under the "I" beam to monitor the roof of the live room...however it is a snug fit.

I hope you enjoy these pictures. Until next time.

I'll be there for the first jam. I drive thru Italy every night. Got a Harley being worked on in your town right now.

How far are you from the truck stop with the grandy's and McDonald's on 35?

Hello again. I'm back with a little more to show. I'm not sure how exciting it is to see insulation being placed...however it needed to be done. So this is a phase by phase section for the insulation. Of course you start out with one piece and then you just keep going. With the help of Anthony Rodriguez, Dan Salcido and Bailey Walker the insulation went in. As you can imagine it was an itchy job. To these guys I owe a HUGE THANK YOU! This couldn't have been done without their help. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Hi again. Now we have built the exterior walls for the machine room and storage rooms in the control room. One thing to notice is that both walls are symmetrical and are angled in two directions. This was done by Dave Del Valle and Anthony Rodriguez. Again, these are two guys that I'm immensely grateful to for being awesome, supporting this project, and for working their asses off. I hope you enjoy these pictures.

I was just thinking the same thing the other day. Went looking for the thread again to see if I missed something as well. I hope the project didn't stall. Would love to see the finished product.

Just texted him to see if he has new info/pics for us. With all the rain we have had, let's just hope he is still standing.lol

First off I would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to Rottingcorpse for taking the time to contact me about this. I would also like to say THANK YOU for all the interest in this thread. I honestly got so busy that I just stopped doing this thread. It wasn't until I started receiving e-mails about this that I checked back in. When I saw the responses I was quite surprised that this had generated any interest. So here goes the continuation of the construction thread.

What you're seeing here is the duct work for the HVAC being put in place. There are several things that are playing to our advantage for making the HVAC unit dead quiet. The first thing is that the HVAC will be suspended from the I-beams of the roof. As a result of working with David Morris I am able to have things built the way I want it without having to sink tons of money in to traditional tactics. The nice thing about sound is that since it goes straight with my plenums in place I have built in absorption which will negate the need for having to build the boxes to go inline with the ducting. Additionally, the HVAC unit itself is extremely quiet to the point that we don't know when it turns on or off.

The ceiling are also loaded with insulation which further helps keeping heating and cooling to a minimum.

These pictures are me making up for lost time so I thought I'd put a bunch of pictures up since everyone has been kind enough to encourage a resurgence of this thread. I hope you enjoy these pictures.

Imagine the time and money going into this project.....

I will be there at the grand opening, Eric. Will bring the NOIZE!!!......and the booze. Been looking for the right time and place to open up my favorite rig and see what it does in a good room.

As much as a house I would imagine, add in the custom wiring, framework, special materials, well into 6 figures i would imagine to have it built for you?

Looks good as always. Love the vaulted ceilings :)

To the OP: not sure if you have decided on the mixing board yet, but recently there was a nice SSL console decommissioned by a good friend of mine who also used to frequent this forum. His name is James Lugo - it might be worth contacting him if you're in search for an analog setup. Not sure whether you're deciding to go hybrid or what plans lay there, but just passing this along so that everyone can benefit.

Thanks for the update - keep them coming and keep up the good work

I love build threads; guitars, amps, music studios...

Here we are with placing of the two layers of drywall inside the control room. You can rest assured that more drywall is on the way. The front of the control room is 11 ft. on the front and the rear wall is 14 ft. I hope you enjoy these pictures. Wait until you see the next round of materials being brought in.
