loving this thread man, thanks for taking the time to take the pics and post them. out of curiosity (you might have talked about this and I missed it) on the room without the vaulted ceiling, why the sloped celing? just curious to the benefit, looks like it made the trusses kind of a pain.
 
Hi again. I apologize for the delay in posting. I got caught up with life. So here we are placing drywall on the top of the vaulted trusses. We were fortunate to have a scissor lift to raise the drywall up. However getting it in place was nerve wracking from my floor perspective. From the ground watching Dave drive the scissor lift with a sheet of drywall was disconcerting enough. Then you start to watch the lift sway a bit and that really gets your attention. Although this was nerve wracking Dave seemed to have everything mapped out. He raised one sheet at a time and some how he slid it across the top and screwed the sheets in to place. Had this been me up there I know I would be moving extremely slow as a result of not being a big fan of heights. The good news is that I'm getting more comfortable being up in the air however this still scared the crap out of me. The extent of my contribution was helping him get a sheet of drywall onto the scissor lift. Beyond that this was completed by Dave and Dave alone. One other item to point out is that the top of the live room is completely decoupled from the roof of the shell. Also, believe it or not, at the base of the roof there is room to climb under the "I" beam. Without further delay I would like to show you Dave's fearless construction heroics. Hi Dr. Thunder. Thank you for your continued support and for taking the time to stop by. In regards to the control room sloped ceiling. I believe that it has to do with the modes which is making sure that you don't have a frequency that bounces back and forth and amplifies on itself thus exaggerating it. I forgot to ask Dave that question. I didn't want you to think I was being an ass and ignoring you. I was really afraid of this happening to me if I didn't get back to you... :gethim: I hope you're having a great day. :)

Hi Dan. Thank you for this posting. This totally made my day. Should you make it to Texas I would love to have you out for a visit. I'll even have a beer waiting for you...providing you drink beer. I think you will be more than a little surprised when you see the place in person.

Actually getting ready to insulate and then plywood and then styrofoam in about 30 feet of wall in my Pole building tomorrow. ;)
 
Hi again everyone. I'm back with more pictures to share. I've been busy with life and so I haven't been able to post much of anything. What I would like to show you is the build process of the large vocal booth and the two amp rooms. The unique thing about the large vocal booth is that we could put an eight piece drum set in it if we wanted to. Regarding the amp rooms...we decided to maximize recording options. The room on the left will be for standard guitars and the room on the right will be for bass guitars as well as 7, 8 and 9 string guitars. Dave is a fan of mic-ing bass cabinets and so we thought why not go for it since we have the flexibility to do what we want. In case you're wondering what the pointed roof is for...this is a balcony which is intended for recording live performances on the opposite wall. Eventually there will be a stair case on the right side of the amp rooms leading up to the top. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Lots of back breaking work.

I sure hope your gonna get a tax write off or depreciation writeoff or something.

This is not an inexpensive undertaking.

I shudder to think how much it will cost to get it outfitted and up and running once the "shell" is completed

That being said.

Once done

I doubt my family would ever see much of me again.

It would be cool to have those that stop by this thread to stop by in person and grab a guitar and/or play some drums and bass...or just scream and make noise. However you slice it...it would be fun.
 
It is now official that we have electrical in the building. This is a good day for us. Now we can start using fans to cool us down a little bit. Of course when you have 103 degree temperatures outside it can make life a bit challenging. If it wasn't for J.D. Guice and Zack having a sense of humor things would not have been very enjoyable doing this work and the other stuff going on behind the scenes. These guys did a great job and I am fortunate to have them handling the electrical work. I hope you enjoy these pictures. Until next time.

Hi Fuzzyguitars. The first thing we did is to only put a couple of outlets per breaker. We also do not allow the lights to share any wiring with the outlets thus the lights exactly like the outlets only have a few (2 or 3) boxes per outlet. We did this to minimize electrical noise that might come through due to shared wires. When you say "regulated power systems" I'm not sure if you're referring to power conditioners and if that's what you're referring to then yes there will be power conditioners used as well. I have to be honest in the fact that I'm not an electrician and so there are huge gaps in my knowledge. I hope I answered your question.

We are most definitely going to put in central air. It may even be a zoned system.
