Huh? There's nothing prog or fusion about that at all IMO...and certainly not the originator of prog or even that original for that matter. Sorry but I disagree with you on this one...

Yeah, I agree....Not Prog.
I Love Old Neil Schon,
Kick Ass Rock N Roll but not Prog.
This is some Old Prog.
Jammin' Begin's @ 0:50

Gentle Giant

King Crimson

Return To Forever, Kansas etc.....

Watch that video about 6:35 on, Howe is just tearing it up and its really live, the whole arrangement thru that section is different but Howe is just going off. True original

Well I'm not a prog/fusion/blah expert, but to me their old stuff was more "musician appealing" that the later commercial stuff. I dunno what you'd call it though, but I always thought of them as kind of a slightly over the top jam band. /shrug

At any rate, I think it's good stuff, and I'm pretty much 99% metal head.

Even if you wanted to call that prog rock it wouldn't be the original as bands like ELP were out long before Journey formed. My favorite Journey stuff is late 70's early 80's. They started to go to commercial on Frontiers. Albums like Escape and Infinity are great great rock albums.

I take it back. I don't wanna share the video anymore. :/

No worries dude, its cool, didn't mean to derail you, just when I think Prog (and I played Prog Rock for years, even in a Genesis Tribute band in upstate NY for years) I don't think Journey is in that category, but I like the tune and the playing is excellent, just not Prog or Fusion IMO.

Firstly I used the word prog, because I read an old re-issued article a few years ago that called the "pre-Perry" Journey a progressive rock band. Secondly, I just think that's a cool and spacey old song that I used to fall asleep to when I was in the 8th grade, and couldn't afford Frontiers. I saw Journey, Next, and Infinity in a discout bin at a Safeway for $1 something each, and bought them up thinking it would be like the Escape and Frontiers albums my friends owned. I ended up liking the old stuff much more, and when I'm feelin' chill, those are some of the albums/songs/wutever that I sometimes lean towards. I'm sorry if I offended all you prog rock lovers, as I know you are quite passionate about the genre. Please forgive me if I used the term incorrectly, but I did so only out of the blind leading the blind type of ignorance. I still like the song FWIW.

It's cool, my last post where I said I didn't wanna share the video anymore was totally tongue in cheek. I know it's hard to read sarcasm hehe! Ever since I hard Defenders of the Faith, I've been f'd up beyond all recognition, and have spent little to zero effort trying to be all artsy fartsy about music lol! I've only craved POWER  from that point forward when it came to actually trying to understand the guitar lol!
