The reason rock music will die

Drums are actually the hardest thing to record and the VSTs that are out there are soundwise hard to match.

i understand, i think im the last jerk trying to record natural drums with no samples, its taken me years to get my drums sounding anywhere near decent, would have saved many many hours and maybe sound "better" with some sample help but whatever.

Something I like doing is sampling the kit that’s getting recorded. That way in editing if there’s any real soft hits can layer it on. This has been done forever.

I just left a situation because the alpha male of the group, a young kid who put it all together, doesn't want to get together and actually play. Instead he wants us to write our originals and develop and share our own parts by file sharing and then eventually go in to a local studio to record. All with the goal of publishing the songs online, Itunes or whatever where nobody will ever buy them. I decided I'd rather take some time and find people that just want to get loud and have fun together.

those cartoons are more lifelike than that actual goon is in person. “Data” from Star Trek lately?

ive done this with the couple bands ive recorded to replace a couple hits here and there. No samples for me was really just a way to force myself to learn to record better, its taken me years of fucking with tunings, heads, cymbals, snares and everything else that goes with recording drums to figure it out. i now understand why back in the day all the real studios my friends bands would go to would want them to use their house kit they knew how to make sound good

This is how I feel . No fun no joy

I gave up on drummers years ago. I have a few plugins I use, and my old Arturia SparkLE.

I'm not a drummer, so I find it tedious and don't do it often.

Most of the time I just find free jam tracks that people post, and others add different instrument parts and repost - then I'll choose what instrument I'll play - guitar, keys or bass. Have to sift through a lot of them to find any I like.

This is one reason I don't really have an interest in gigging or putting a band together. Too collaborative, in a scene/culture/time where nobody is on the same page.

this is literally what im looking for, the kid with the fire who is only concerned with writing, recording and releasing music. rehearse on your own with a click and only get together to jam when we actually have material to work on, no useless jams. likes, comments and views knowing people are hearing my music are more fulfilling to me these days than jamming loud

Excuses sound the best to the person that makes them.

I been wanting to have a band again and have tried out 2 drummers . There’s literally no pride in live performance and sounding different. The last 2 drummers (both 25 ish ) were great while we jammed . After about an hour BOTH drummers on different days said sweet let’s record ( the jam as if it’s a finished song ) . They then both wanted to use superior drums to type out what they played . So they don’t even want to play on their own recordings any more . Then with my wall of amps which I love they said we won’t need those just use my plugins . They both showed me their songs from past and they all have identical production like say spirit box . Completely fake and no way of trying to get their own sound . I might add they said they will add synths like sleep token . I’d rather play alone than be a part of this shit . I mean they don’t even want to PLAY on their own songs . I love music and would love a band again but no way
Wow, I have never even heard of a drummer that wants to use superior drummer instead of playing. All the drummers I know would find that insulting.

You should try and find another drummer, those guys have to be a rare example.

Most drummers would laugh at the idea of using superior drummer.

I have a cover band, and from time to time, I lose a band member to some unforseen circumstance, and I have to find a new one.
I usually will put a ad on Craigslist, and I word the ad very specifically, to weed out any flakes or BS artists.
In fact, one of my drummers said he almost didn't answer the ad, cause it was a bit intimidating.
Made me realize that weeding out the Flakes before they get in the band is key.
You might try that. Be very specific about what you are looking for. The right people are out there.
You just have to find them.

I'll show him how to find you LOL! Seriously, we got one done, went through the whole thing and I think it has about 10 listens on Itunes, about five of those being us. Waste of time and zero reward in my opinion.

you should have posted it here, we all would have listened to it and probably gotten a couple hundred views. gotta be on all the platforms though, preferably youtube so we can link easy

I am in a band where we hardly ever get together and when we do we just go through our "set" which is our 5 song EP that we've released 4 years which we've never played live yet.

I spend so much time coming up with ideas and writing and recording riffs and get excited, just to have nobody else bounce ideas back. Progress is never made. I waste time and energy getting excited about writing new stuff so we can record and play it, just to be let down because everybody else constantly has other plans. Nobody else makes the band a priority.
