I saw Trouble in a club in Chicago when I was 16. They were so freaking heavy, they literally scared us. I still love that band. My favorite doom band.

Good morning gentlemen!

This video is just EPIC:

I STILL cannot get enough of that video clip!

It looks so ridiculous and cracks me up   , but still rocks the house to its foundations!

My finger is in stitches at the moment, so can't play my guitar or even go back to work for a week (only light duties), otherwise I'd record a clip of Bewitched. I will sometime soon.

Interesting news. I just received a New EHX Reissue Big Muff in the mail from Sweetwater. I had intended to modify it like my old muff because I didn't like the new Muff's design. After cracking it open I have come to the realization that the new off the shelf design has changed for the better. I'm still going to modify it to my specs, but I just thought I'd chime in with that.

OK, I take that back, the circuit seems to be largely the same, but the markings on the PCB as well as the PCB itself is very different. The values that I did not like before seem to be the same. Although the clipping diodes which used to be Schottky diodes, have been replaced with Silicon diodes, which is a HUGE improvement. Not sure whose call it was to put Schottky diodes in there in the first place, but it was a BAD call. I modified the circuit to my specs and have taken piece by piece recordings of the mod, which I will post and link to this thread in the next few days. Shit sounds so fucking doomy now. Know you guys are going to love this.

Just got back in town from a little trip. Glad to see this thread is still going! Keep it coming guys. Look forward to seeing your mod stuff Jake.

I came home to my Blackarts Toneworks Pharaoh Fuzz waiting in a box for me. I can't wait to cranking it up with the Sunn today

Ok, this is probably a dumb question, but keep in mind I'm just getting into some of this stuff. Would Sabbath be considered Doom? A lot of these clips you guys are posting sound like nothing more than Sabbath with maybe a denser guitar tone. Especially Candlemass. Cool regardless.

A Fuzz Face. They sound fuckin' monstrous through the right amplifier. I've owned a number of them (some high dollar) and my personal favourite is the blue Dunlop Hendrix fuzz. Maybe I lucked out and got a good one? Donno.

I have a custom-built Fuzz pedal that I believe is a Fuzz Face hybrid. I think it is. Has a Gain and Volume control, blue LED, custom graphics.
I haven't experimented with it much though.

What amps in particular would they sound monstrous through?

If I give it a go through my Jazz Chorus combo amp (probably by Wednesday, have work all day tomorrow), would it sound big? Or just a small buzz since the amp is so clean? (and solid state)

I'd run it through my Marshall or the MarkIV but I'm still in the process of re-wiring the cab and my soldering iron is currently stuffed.

For sure. Its sorta like a continuation of what Sabbath started in my mind... more so than other metal genres

Black Sabbath's first two albums are generally considered the birth of Doom, while Master of Reality is generally considered the birth of Stoner Rock.

However, if you want to get technical Sabbath is usually considered proto-doom in that they inspired the sub-genre yet aren't technically part of the genre as they pre-date it.

I had two packages waiting for me when I got home yesterday

Finally. I've wanted a set of these for awhile, but it took forever for a set of 8ohm Greenbacks to show up on the used market at a reasonable price.

I tried my Fuzz pedal with the Jazz Chorus. It didn't do doom tones very well. Just didn't have the fullness or monstrosity. It's a very spitty type of fuzz, the tone spits out at you with a rough tongue. It was quite cool for single notes on the high strings, but not that flash at all for rhythm stuff. I remember now that's what I got it for!................

SG's, Greenbacks, and Big Muffs. Now this is my kind of forum!
