The SLO happy dance and resulting carnage

What does the DeMartini mid-mod do for the overall character of the amp, and is it switchable?
What speakers/ cab are you running it with?
Back before some a-hole ripped off my SLO (unmodded) I was running it through an Ubercab (30/75 x pattern) and a beat to shit old Marshall cab with original greenies...MONSTROUS.

The scoop mod, kocks down the upper mids. The mids control is still in play, but feels like it take the upper mids out and shifts that part of the EQ downward. You don't seem to lose any cut though. I think it actually takes the mid-spike out of the V30's is what is was designed to do. It is not switchable, and you really don't need it to be. It is only applicable to the OD channel. But, it and the depth mod are what makes the amp work for me.

I am running through 2-412 Bogners right now. Both rear load. One with the same Ubercab set up you mentioned and the other with 25 watt Scumbacks (M/H). Gives a pretty good balance of snap, punch and sizzle.

Congrats on the SLO, sounds like you are really liking it. You have a lot of other great amps though, I would sit on them for a couple of months to see if you change your mind about selling them and save yourself a couple of wheelbarrows full of money.

Those Scumbacks are similar to greenbacks aren't they? Probably damn close to the dual cab setup I was running.
I think I would be OK with the scoop mod if it's more of a shift to lower mids than just removing them.
I like a lot of midrange grind in my tone and I remember my (unmodded) SLO being a little bright in the mids, kind of jcm800 style.

Haynes mod: lifts the treble bypass cap on the lead channel's gain pot
Depth mod: standard NFB loop type off the 4 ohm tap

Mike builds great amps and is a very down to earth person I like and trust.
I think I mentioned at every amp fest I have been at the voice of the Soldano pretty much is better than about everything. Just a great tone...
You need to check out one of his Marshall modifications if you can .... it is by far my favorite of all the modified amps I have seen....
