hmm, this is one amp I have yet to play, and I've been through a bunch too. You're making me gas to try an SLO Steve. Congrats on finding "your" sound though, that's an awesome feeling.

Do it Eric. I put off owning one for a long time and have owned a ton of crap as well. It's one of the all-time greats. Lots of great tones in that thar box. ;)

Do you use any effects or channel switch alot? I've owned two SLOs and was never able to get around the FX loop using delays along with switching between channels.

I haven't even checked the FX loop yet. If I use FX, it will be up front anyway. Channel switching would be very minimal. I guess the problem with the loop is being a series loop and always engaged if something is plugged in. You are depending on the rack unit to effectively bypass a signal through the engaged loop. Its like the Shiva loop. I don't really care though. Soldano does have a factory loop mod if one so desires.

Steve hold into those other Amps too unless you need the cash.

Nah, I don't want them Todd. They will all be for sale, the one's here anyway. It's not the money, it is more about finally finding the amp that leaves you with the feeling that this is the one and that was instantaneous too.
Steve

Exactly. How else can you go full circle when you already own EVERYTHING! You have to sell everything, to start the cycle over again. Just kidding Steve.

Glad you found your holy grail........still waiting for my "be all, end all" amp. Hopefully it is the one being built in the upcoming weeks (Hint Hint Brad).

They should be ready anytime from now

The only reason I got stuck with all this right now, is because of the ongoing export ban, because the fucking diaper heads want to blow up somebody's shit all the time and create trouble. That said, I feel content for a change.

I will call Mike tomorrow and let him know Bill can not take a vacation till after the storm passes ....

THe SLO is a fine amp and I think I like that red as good as my purple. I bought my 1st SLO in 2002, played it for three years and thought I needed to try other things. Well after a lot of wasted time and a hella of lot of waisted money I went back to the SLO. There is no amp and I mean NO amp that sounds and feels like a SLO. After chasing my tail for 5 years I'm back and it was truley like comin home. The amp is amazing. Steve that red is awesome and congratulations. Theres no other feeing in the world like be 100% plus satisfied with your tone and thats what the SLO gives me anyway. Hell its the only amp ever to give me goose bumps in the middle of a song, it's that good.

Thanks man and yep, that is exactly where I am at right now. Can't believe I waited this long. The red is sort of growing on me a bit and looks pretty cool I guess. I have read a few of the stories of coming back to the SLO. I can see how they will grow on you. It does everything I want, just better than the others. That said, I still like my Cameron Jose too. They make a good pair. I will probably be on the hunt for SLO #2 soon.

Congrats. I do think it is short sighted to sell off "all" other amps. One amp can't do every tone... ;)

I only need one tone Dave. May hang onto the Jose though, just for shits and giggles..... :D

Whats funny is in the past I have seen people by a SLO only to sell it off within a month or so.
Guess its one of the amps need to try for yourself to see.
I have never heard or played thru one and would love to someday.
No place carries them in Michigan that I know of.

It's a killer amp with amazing clarity. But, it pretty much sounds like a Soldano no matter how you twist the knobs or switch the mods. I think this is also why a lot of pros have used them in the past and moved onto something else after an album.

Congrats on finding your sound, Steve. There's nothing that touches the SLO if it's the tone you dig. Try experimenting with balancing the depth and bass knobs. Don't be afraid to roll the presence and treble way back, there's plenty of both in there.

I am down to one modern voiced amp and three vintage voiced amps. The rest of the amps are only collecting dust here ....

And to be real I only need two .... the main and a backup. I could easy just have one, my life would not be that different ....

Surprisingly I have my presence quite pushed and it sounds great!

Steve, i can't believe your giving up on the Cameron & Friedman Marshalls, why not just keep them all?

He with the most toys wins. :D :D :D

Hey congrats Steve on finding the one. I love the red sounds like a great amp for you.
