Right on. Kids like what they're exposed to. Only reason this generation has disinterest in guitar music is they're generally not hearing it.
At the beginning of every school year, I usually start my students on an "about me" digital presentation and model one myself with my bio and list of interests, including EVH as my favorite guitar player. I bring a half-stack and a super-strat and play Eruption for them. They love it and I always have a few kids start playing guitar after this. Personal bonus is I get gifted guitar picks throughout the school year.
